Oh my...that stuff put me in the hospital. The pain clinc gave it to me. I was on dilaudid and muscle relaxers, and sleeping pills ....I could never fully wake up. It woke me up ok... I am a heart patient and it made my heart race and gave me the shakes. They told me it was just the medicine, and my body would adjust to it....I took a couple of bottles, and I never did lose the shakes. It felt EXACTLY like what I am going thru now.....LOL I still have some, I can not imagine taking them in WD I am shaking bad enough now and not taking the calming dilauiid. Jerri
I read a little bit about it as I have never heard of it, and read that it is a stimulant. I suspected it was a stimulant- and kind of figure it was an amphetamine. Found out that it is not an amphetamine at all- and read that it "has a very low chance of becoming habit forming'.
I found alot of positive stuff about it, but also alot of inconclusive stuff as well. It doesn't appear that there has been too much research on the drug, other than it being a safe treatment for people with narcolepsy.
But hey, if it helps for withdrawals and is not habit forming (supposedly) than I guess thats a good thing!
I was given provigil...my neighbor suggested it and i took one...twas a saturday...only used 2- 10 mg hydro that day and i was an 80 mg a day user...then i got a scrip for it ...then i quit the hydros... .now this is me and everyone is different....provigil stimulates the release of dopamine but not in the same addictive way that narcotics do...i am sure it can be abused but it was uncomfortable to take too many during that couple of months post quitting...probably saved my job! never craved it or anything...and it helped me get out of the door and go to work for a while.....contraversial i know and not a drug for anyone with anxiety issues...for fatigued, laid back personalities that need to get up and go, i think it may be a good choice...if u had anxiety it would exacerbate it....my 2 cents on provigil...LOL
I started takeing PV when i didnt have money to buy Norco.... i got the same kind of high but it lasted longer. I figured that since it was suposed to be non habit forming and non narcotic it was ok.... i worked for a dr office and stole samples so it didnt cost me anything. Before i knew it, i was takeing 2 pills in the morning and 2 pills after lunch. I feene for these pills in the same way that i did the norco or vicodin. I pray that no one else becomes as dependant of these pills as i did. It awful. in fact, today i decided to stop and i cant get it out of my head and whats worse is when i go to work tomorro.... i know it will be available to me.... ALL DAY LONG. I am very young and can honestly say that out of all the things i have tried in my life, i have never been addicted like i am now. If anyone has any advise i would love to hear it. I kno i am going to need help... .but i am afraid to tell my husband. What should i do? And the only reason i am stoppin the provigil is by the end of the day my throat feels like it wants to close and i get increased anxiety and start hearing noises out side my window..... dude seriously... i think Cephalon should have done alittle more investigating on this drug before they started pooring it in 2 dr offices! well good luck to anyone who may be in the same predicament as me. xoxo Anonomous
They're not reported to interact with opiate based pain killers but I wouldn't take the chance of mixing unless you spoke with your doctor (I NEVER mixed but started after c/t).
They didn't return me to normal on day 1, as i'm sure we all would wish, but DID lessen MANY of my withdrawl symptoms.
