I am thinking of going and seeing a dr. to get on Suboxen to help withdrawals off the Vicodin. has anyone used this succesfully or should I do the cold turkey thing I got almost threw day 2 and then called my doc to get a refill and back using again, I know now I will not get another RX. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated! HELP HELP HELP

I'm on the Sub. and its working for me, but as a last resort. I really beleive people should seriously try tapper or cold turkey. At least a few attempts. Sub. should be used if all else seems to fail.
Good luck. You can do it.

I am gald to here , I think sub is helpful sometimes ,however I really wish it was only used in heavy opiate use ..... I think it is very helpful for people coming off of methadone ,people using high amounts of oxys as well ..... Tapering and going CT can be rough for a bit but over all  it is very doable.

Thanks for all your thoughts I think I will just go the CT route I do not want to get on another drug and have to worry about w/d from it down the road. I will stock up on things to help get threw  ( as if I had the flu) and go that route I feld once and I am going to do it this time. I have enough pills to get me threw Thursday and then I will take my stand and this time I am going to make it!

Ive often thought about going onto sub, as you may know by now tapering off methadone is a mission in itself, & I,ve gone off vicodin & even oxys but never methadone, so being that your taking vicodin I really would recomend you try every other option prior to taking sub, as from what I,ve heard from my addiction specialist sub can be a great thing for many people but for a good majority its just another type of medication that you will eventually have to be tapered off of & withdrawal from & its a long road, as many doctors want you to stay on it for a long time. Also If you made it thru two days you should be half way their, as when I was on vics & percs & oxys I always came around on or about the 4th day, physically anyway, the mental game still continued on & this is where it gets ugly. Whatever decision you make, Im sure it will be the right one. & Let me know if you do get onto the sub, Id like to know how it works for you? Take Care Penelope

My suggestion is cold turkey,I am day 38 today of no vics and feeling good.I love the fact of not having to depend on anything today to try to feel good it is natural.Sometimes we are looking for an easy way out and there is none, you will read the posts about what a hard time people are having getting off the sub.CT is a few days of the flu like symptoms and a couple of weeks of brain adjustment but very doable.I took vics for 10 years and the days off vics are soo much better.I wish you the best keep reading the posts ,pick up supplies for flu like symptoms .Let  me know if I can help
