When I quit drinking, I was drinking 1 to 2 quarts of whisky a day. I had drank heavily for years. Some Alcoholic Anonomous people from the small town I lived in put me in a car, let me keep my bottle, and drove me 100 miles to a state supported clinic for detox. There were three of them in the car because they were afraid of what would happen when my bottleran out. Note, they did this because I ASKED for help, I had had enough. It was not pretty at the Bridgehouse where I got sober, bitfor the first two days a nurse sat with meand took my vitals every 15 minutes. I am not trying to scare you, but at your level of drinking, you really got to be serious about quitting, and medical help is needed. It was three days before I could eat, I stayed a week. I could not afford the 30 day program. As it was I repaid my $300 bill over two years. The AA folks came and got me after the week, and it was not until years later that I got messed up with benzos. If you have been doing both, that will be tough, but you can do it if you want to bad enough. When you succeed, you will find the spiritual side of yourself.
A lot of people on this forum have struggled with alcohol addiction and I am sure they will say the same thing. Most people have the desire to stop and never drink again when they get to the point where it is affecting their lives. I would recommend the same to you. All substance are related in the way that you can use them to supress something. One of the secrets I found out early was this...
In order to stop I have to have the desire to never use again. You are fortunate that you haven't lost everything yet. You are unfortunate because you just want stop drinking to fix everything when you should stop drinking, find a higher power, and everything will fix itself.
I can't give you advise on how to manage the detox of alcohol as I have only seen it and never felt it but there are others on here who can likely help....Good Luck
