Amino acid protocool question

Hello all I'm 21 days clean from hydro's tomorrow. I've been doing good just really depressed for almost the last week and anxiety. Before that I was actually feeling great so I'm sure this is part of the brain healing but still not fun. I found the Amino acid protocool and thought it might help so I went to the store and got 5htp and taurine and b complex and vitamine c. Here are my questions:
*Has this worked for anyone else?
*Has this amino acid usage had bad results for anyone else?
*How long before it begins to work?
*What should I take when?
*How long before my brain levels are better on their own?
*Will this lack of energy ever go away perminatly?
*Will my brain ever be normal again?

Ok I'll retry one of those I got exercise in the last two days n it seemed to help something I think the last two days weren't AS bad. The guy who works at gnc helped me with my list n said I got what I needed from the list? Can hormones play a role in the ups and down too? I'm a week pms I didn't realize it @ first but now I'm wondering if that can play a role also?

Thing is..if u r going to follow the thomas recipe//or the amino acid protocol//u have to follow it..u can not choose a few supps///as u chose 3 and the 3 u chose were not really that inportant cept the 5 htp//it is the only amino acid u bought...the other 2 are vitamins

tyrosine is very important for fatigue and depression...//not good if u r having severe anxiety as it does give an instant nrg spurt if u take the 2000 mgs a day recommended///phenylalanine is also helpful..as is theanine...5htp is really the ony crucial amino u bought...and if u r gonna follow the protocols//u gotta take the recommended amounts...and exercise is encouraged as it will produce more endiorphins than any amino u take..good luck but look closely at the thomas recipe///the AA protocl and the thomas recipe are similar in alot of ways////do a retake and get the supps u need if u r gonna try it

EmergenC from Walmart will take the place of all the vitamins u need...and the fluids u need//but does not contain amino acids.and no amino combo supp will supply the amount u will need either..u will have to get them individually..i did the powdered from from Bulk nutrition and mixed them with EmergenC 3-4 times a day

good luck...it saved me from relapse..it can save u too...but u gotta do it right

congrats everyday you don't take an opiate!!!  I thought the aminos really helped me out after the first couple weeks...  I liked 5htp at night, L-tyrosine was amazing for mornings to help me get up and start my day.   Of course exercise really helps, I did a lot of swimming which is great cause it helps you escape yourself for a while....  I'd try all of it, the melatonin and vitamin d really helped me sleep also...  Everyday it will get better, keep coming back to this website whenever your feeling overwhelmed.  The harder part for me now is getting used to feeling things more, stronger...
Good luck!

Exercise will really help. I am surprised that 5hpt made you jittry but everyone's body is different .Try SAM E instead, magnesium and vit D ,b6 and b12 .I used sublingual melatonin it worked wonders for me but I will say I think the exercise is the key.... you are doing great keep it up.

I found exercise to be the most important tool for recovery there is! I know it can be hard to muster up the energy to do so, but force yourself even if it starts by just a short walk around the block. I know it's not the best time of year to be out walking but just bundle up!! If you combine this with healthy foods, plenty of water and juice, and the amino acids you will feel better much faster. You will also just feel better overall and end up picking up some healthy addictions.
Just hang in there and know that you will get back to your "old" self. Each day that passes will get easier and easier.
Best of luck!

congrats on your quitting. alright!!
so people underestimate what our diets matter. taking supplements and all is good but it is difficult to assimilate most in pill form. the best is to go straight to the foods that have those specific vitimans and such.
for energy- the best will come from basic whole, fresh foods. unprocessed and raw. pretty much everything is good for you that has not been processed, refined, or cooked to death. a juicer is great. you just put in all the raw vegtables that you really don't want to eat and end up with a glass of juice. this is my usual mix.
2 or 3 carrots
1'/2 beet with greens
handful of spinache
tomatoe (vit. c or a pepper)

this will make you feel like a million bucks.
the aminos i took were l-glutamine and l-methionine.  they really help you to concentrate and think clear.
valarian root and l-theanine help to calm you down

hope this helps. it worked for me.

Thank you. I was taking 5mg 4x a day for 5yrs. I've been feeling bad for about the last week and my brain keeps telling me oh just take one but I know I can't just take one. I just need this to stop I can hardly function at work or home and this is really hard. Worse then second week but not as bad as week one. I just want to feel "normal" again but I honestly don't know what that feels like anymore

Congrats on three weeks clean.  It's difficult to give a standard answer to your questions because we are all unique in our biochemistry & supplements which some do great on make others jittery & so on.  It depends on which neurotransmitters you are personally low on & you just have to experiment a bit to find what works for yo.

The B vitamins will only do you good & you may want to add some sublingual B12 which is especially good for nerves.

5htp will generally be calming but if you feel it's making your anxiety worse, then give it a rest for a few days so you can compare your response.  5htp is usually subtle in its actions & may take a few days before you start to feel any benefit.

Inositol is another B group vitamin which can be very effective for anxiety.  You have to take large doses, (5-7 grams) to start but besides St John's Wort, it is the only supplement where I have really been able to notice a difference in mood.

If you are jittery stay away from tyrosine as it can help with energy but will probably make the jitters worse.

Vitamin D, (2,000 iu per day); sex & plenty of exercise are also helpful.

You are so right that your brain is healing.  How long it takes depends on how long you were on the hydros  & what dose among other things but you are definitely on your way forward.

Best wishes.

where any of us normal to begin with?  i wasn't.  i have always had an overactive mind, anxiety, mild depression.  I have always over thought everything, never been able to sleep.

the roxi/xanex mix totally numbed me out.

i am almost 19 days clean, funny thing is even though i am totally maniacal, i missed totally maniacal me.
