RDR..are you around? - DAY 1 for the Hydros!

RDR,

Hi sweetie,

Well, now after the months that we have talked and supported each other thru our different phases, I am glad, after a year your still here on the forum after bieng over 5 months free of the Hydros!

Well, now that the benzo's are way under control and down to minute...Today is my day 1 from the 7.5 Hydro's (about 5-7 a day) and yes, c/t.

I am already feeling the aching bones and flu like symptoms...I was just wondering, when you c/t off your 5 a day, did anything help you...like IBU or Cold and Flu Medicine??

Any love and help would be so much appreciate right now, because I want my clairity of mind, and my life back, and believe me...when I get thru this, I will be praising God up and down!

So...many days did it take for you, until you started to feel somewhat on the upbeat??

I'll wait for you reply...and miss talkin w/ since last week!

God Bless You!

Love,
Todd

I was just remembering when you where around 30 days off the Sub treatment, and I asked you "how your doing"

and you replied "kicking *** and taking names!"

I just got thru laughing, that I how we can remeber each others struggles from almost 1 year ago!

Any advise on the flu like symptoms would be greatly helpful. I know you had a master plan before you even started....and you also had success!

XOXO to you too Steph!

My 2 Cents;
I was on 12 5/500 vics a day, and went c/t. I took Ibuprofen and eccederine, drank lots of water (what I could stomach anyway), took 2-3 hot showers a day and took flexeril to help me sleep. Each day got better for me and I was able to function pretty normally by day three. Now, the emotional part has lasted a little longer, (a little moodiness sometimes, mostly trying to kick the feeling that i NEED something to get me by) I'm on day 14 and doing pretty well all things considered. Congradulations! You can beat this and we are all here to help! Much Luv!!

toxitome,

Thanks a million!

This day has been long awaited for. I just had to taper off from 25 (10mg) of Valium a day, before I could finally get to the point of getting rid of this last drug....the hell bound hydro!!!

Thanks for your encourgement.

How are you, and also we never met...so who are you and what are you up against?

Love,
Todd

Hmm.. those are the worst. Clonidine helps with the sweats/chills.  An anti-histimine for the sniffing sneezing, eye watering stuff. And don't underestimate the power of imodium. Because of its opiate quality it can take the edge off symptoms in general. And most of all keep talking, help out a new comer. that will help you not to focus on your misery and you can help someone else.

XOXO

Hi mandee,

Congrats on day 14!....Thanks a million for the tips the helped you. It's not so much the emotional part for me right now...just the fever, cold like physical symptom's.

I did take the day off work today, and may take tomorrow off if needed. I was thinking of getting some Tylenol Cold and Flu medicine to see if it well help relief this body ache, along w/ some 800IBU.

Again, thanks for your insight, and I'm happy for your day 14!

God Bless!
Love,
Todd

SO glad to see you here again...i was on 15 a day, then did a quick taper and was on 5 i think only 2 days...So not really a good taper...i think if i would of stayed at 5 like you my w/d's would have been alot better..

I am so proud of you, the only things i took was, clonodine, some advil, and at night klonopin---now you know we have talked about the benzos , and glad u got that under control...I only took those to try to sleep the first few nites...But really nothing helped to sleep...Now the best thing for me besides the clonodine, was the hot baths...
Heating pad on legs..
i think you will do well at that amount...my worst days were 3 and 4...After that i was seeing the light , and it just got better from that day forward..
If u want to talk u know i am here for you anytime!!!

Hi, Im new to this forum and am on day 4 of 9-12 Vics a day. I felt better yesterday and am feeling even better today. Try to stay positive. Clonoprin and imodium as well as hot baths really helped. I only hope I stay clean this time as I relapse regularly. Lots of luck, Corey

Steph,

What is Clonodine? Is something over the counter?

Also are you talking about imodium ad? or the salt?

Todd

PS: I agree, I would go mad sitting here thinking about my own misery! I would rather get something to help and continue to offer my love and support...as we always have!

So..where can I get these 2 items mentioned above?

Love,
Todd

Steph,

You and rdr recommend "clonodine"...why would a Blood Pressure Medicine help...if I never have had a blood pressure issue?

Is there something that relaxes you in the Clonodine?...I lack knowlege of how this can be helpful..

I'll wait to for your input to see why this helps,

Todd

you get the clonodine from your dr.  and you'd better take a week off if you can.  day 3 is usually the worst.  glad to see you in here.  i was kicking methodone back in june when i discovered this site, and you were a great help to me.  i also am a believer, and we prayed for each other to get through it all.  i'm doing well. have no cravings for the done at all, but still have to take some hydros for the back pain.  going to dr. tomorrow to try and find some other treatment for the pain.  maybe a steroid injection, or surgery.  we'll see.  my prayers are with you as you go through this. in Christ Jesus,  Lucy

yes you have to get it from a doctor.....For me i already had it here so i was lucky...Doctor have given it to one of my children who has ADD and could not sleep..Since i didn't want her on any of the ADD medicine he gave me that one with many refills, she didnt' take it long, because it made her to sleepy..So when i read on here a yr ago about it helping, i looked at he bottle it was the same med..
I have to say it helped so much that i would recommend getting some from your doc...
Your blood pressure goes up alot when detoxing, so really it brings it down and helps with all the creppy crawly feelings, sleep and chills and sweats!

Good luck my friend!!

What helped me the most was exercise. I didn't do anything strenuous, just some long walks in the evening. I have detoxed 6 times due to back and sciatic pain and the times I went on walks, I felt much better and faster. I was almost completely back to normal and had energy after about 7 days. I would go for a walk around 7 pm, come home take a hot bath, watch some tv, and hit the sack. It really helped with the rls and sleep. I know it can be hard to muster up the energy to do so, but once you get going it's not all that bad. I wish you the best of luck Todd and hang in there. You have beat one addiction, so you can beat another!
