Really down

Today I am 12 days clean of methadone and 7 no oxy... Today has been a real struggle I feel horrible. Today has been the worst yet. I'm exhausted my body aches I have hot and cold flashes yet I'm constantly freezing no matter what I do. Terrible headaches that last all day and night. Feeling really close to my breaking point. I hope it doesn't last too much longer I don't think I can last if it does.

You're so close. Showers/baths will help with constantly being cold. My knees and hip joints ached and getting up and moving felt like I had cement blocks weighing each leg down. It does get better. Around day 8 or so is when I felt a real improvement in the aches and fatigue. I know you're 12 days out on the methadone, but the oxy was still keeping your brain from firing up and making the chemicals that the opiates were supplying. As hard as it sounds (and it sounded terrible when people told me to do it) force yourself to get up and walk for as long as you can. Whether it's around your house or outside. It was hard to force myself to do, but the endorphins will help. My fatigue was worse when I didnt make myself get up and take a walk in the mornings

Thanks evil .. I don't feel that close. I am on my feet a lot. I've been working a 12 hour a day job at a hospital this whole detox. So I'm definitely not laying around my house. I just feel so exhausted and beat.

Congrats on your clean time. Keep on keepin on.
Are you eating? Lean protein, fruits and veggies.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Drink protein shakes.
Taking vitamins?
Your body is depleted you have to build it up again.
You will get better. Each day you aren't using you are healing.
Keep the faith.

Hi...well in a few more days the phyical symptoms should let up  methadone hand down was my tuffest detox as for the ''energy crash'' I found something that helped  get up to walmart and pick up a can of whey protein shake mix  it is like 17 bucks for a 2lb can  the chocolate flavor is good just 1 scoop to a glass of milk  it give you the raw protein for energy and a boat load of amino acids to heal your brain  drink 2 a day  just know there is life after methadone but the healing process takes time   keep posting for support and join your local N/A group........................................Gnarly.......................

Thanks atthebeach and gnarly. I'm taking vitamins eating healthy fruits veggies protein... Just not very much. I can't keep anything down. No red meats and very little sugar.  I'm taking vitamins. Gnarly when I'm done posting this I'm heading to Walmart and buying that. Today is my 1 day off from my job. Last night was the worst night ever! No sleep.. Pounding heading .. Vomiting ... Horrible Stomach pains.. First time that I've ever really gotten aniexty. That's one symptom I never get. My heart was pounding so fast and hard it make me light headed and really freaked out. I ache everywhere.. It hurts even to sit down.. Lights hurt my eyes ... Even certain noises irritate me and make me really angry. RLS .. It just never stops. I just want it to get a little better. I feel like it never will. The past couple days it just has gotten worse and worse :( Really struggling and really lost. Very depressed I thought things would at least be improving a bit. 13 days no methadone and 8 days no oxy.

hi....well after going threw it I feel you pain  it brings back to me just how bad it was....the only wild card we got here is how much the oxy put you back  we wont know until you go threw it it was the same for me each day that pasted seamed to get worst  it was a 14 day detox  with several symptoms lasting longer  I have helped a lot of people off this drug and no to detoxes are the same  the one common denominator is there all a ruff ride....try not to get discouraged every day is a victory  even if it feel like 2 steps back  I was on the crap for almost 7yr at 150mg  I was 47 when I detoxed  I litterly thought it was going to kill me   I I made it you will to  just hang in there and know there is a life after methadone  post and post often Vici one of the other community leaders also went threw this also went threw hell to get off this stuff im sure she will post to you  I promise it gets better  time heals............Gnarly

Thanks gnarly I really needed someone to tell me that each day is a victory no matter what. My symptoms continue to get worse and worse this started on day 11 and each day since is worse then the day before. I feel like I've gone 5 steps back.. Thanks brown as horrible as working sounded there's no way I could just sit on the couch and lay around .. I know that's what I would be doing if I could .. At least work gives me the exercise I need so that should help me detox sooner.. 14 days no methadone and 9 no oxy. Hoping I turn a corner soon. Thanks for everyone's comments and advise it's greatly appreciated.

Hey there sorry you're having a rough time right now. I came off a sub taper and from what ive read, meth and subs are the hardest to come off of. It sticks around longer than the oxys do so what you are feeling is probably the meth wds. It took a good two weeks for my wds to get really bad. RLS was the worse. I ended up taking a magnesium and potassium supplement. I know you said above your taking vitamins. Is it a multivitamin? I know that wasn't doing it for me. I think taking the individual ones packed more of a punch. It worked great for me. That and Id wrap a heating pad around my calves as that seemed to be my worst place. That will help your chills. Sleep, well, its gna be a little while before it goes back to normal. Took about a month for me. Ive been taking trazadone for years so it helped knock me out but in the beginning I would only sleep an hour here and there. I feel for you hun but it gets better. Just be strong and youre doing great.

Hey.....God I hate this drug.........ya the no sleep thing almost drove me over the edge im also bipolar and was on the edge of a manic eppisode from the lack of sleep  I did find a good tea that helps  it is ''traditional medicinal nighty night''  it has all kinds of natural herbs in it  just seap 2 bags for 20 min  ad some honey for flavor and sip it down  in a 1/2 hour your ready for bed  also tray a really hot bath as hot as you can stand it  even if just for 5 or 10 min  get out and lay down on top of the covers in bed and let yourself air cool then jump under the covers  between the tea and the hot soak right b/4 bed I did manage to get some sleep  it was broken but every little bit helps and it sure beets nothing at all  just know where here for you and this does end sooner or later  your doing great  even if it doesn't feel like it now  today is another day closer to getting better keep posting for support...........Gnarly......................

Thanks mom no having sleep is awful on top of working a full time job it's really taking a huge toll on me. I can't take time off maybe a day or 2. I take a multi vitamin .. Plus a mag cal and zinc all into one. Then a take vit c .. And B12 .. Then at night it's melatonin and valerian root. I've tried trazadone before just not for me it gives me horrible headache and I feel extremely groggy when I wake up like I spent the whole night boozing and now have one hell of a hangover. I just need this to end soon or at least be somewhat bearable

Hey....well another day closer to this being over....I dont recommend the booze  it is really ez to become cross addicted in early recovery  and I cant imagine a hangover on top of methadone withdrawal  try the tea I recommend it helped me and you dont wake up with any hungover feeling  keep posting for support...........Gnarly

I agree with gnarky, a hit bath with Epsom salts can get alot of magnesium in your muscles to relax them. Good luck, Dee
