Hi there,
In my opinion, I would stay away from the muscle relaxers. The ones you mentioned are very sedating, and in some states SOMA is considered a controlled substance.
I would try OTC pain meds - it just depends on what works best for you - Aleve, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, etc., all really do a good job of alleviating pain.
If the OTC's don't work, you doctor can always prescribe a non-narcotic pain reliever, but I'd give the OTC's a try. Alot of people are surprised at how well they work once they get the opiates out of their system.
Keep posting so we know how you're doing.
Well wishes....
Sandy
Flexeril isn't narcotic or addictive. On the other hand, Somas are. Flexeril should be ok to take.
I use a home TENS unit and traction unit and take otc anti inflamatories during the day. I also use a heating pad. I do take Flexaril at night (which I am prescribed). I also go to physical therapy twice a week and exercise 3 to 5 times a week. Some days are worse than others and cold, damp weather makes it worse! I definitely know where you're coming from. I try to just take it one day at a time and usually if I have a bad day the next one is better.
