Day 7. Thank-you for all your comments. Proof positive we are facing an epidemic here and no-one needs to be alone. The following may be offensive to some, but this is a matter of the upmost importance. We are talking about murder here. "The murder and rebirth of the human spirit." Ann Ryand; 'Atlas Shrugged'
I have been to prison, been homeless, witnessed family overdose and countless loved one overdose, been in an asylum / hospitals too many times to count, so I think I qualify.
Update;
Today marks the 7th day of NO suboxone or benzo's or amphetamines or muscle relaxers or psychotropics or anything else. (other than cigarettes, which is quickly coming to an end.) I strung together approx. 6hrs. of sleep last nite. beginning @ 1am and ending @ 8:45am. As stated before, I was on the stuff for 14 mos., and several finacial and personal events pushed me to the precipice. I was either gonna die or start to live. I found this site, and it has been a great thing. I have tried to put together a "Top 10" for suboxone w/drawal and here it is.
1. The quicker you get off suboxone and the lower your dose, the shorter the duration of discomfort.
Suboxone does have a valid place in our medical society, it gives brains time to break habits. It is a dynamic balet of individual diversity that only ends when cessation of dosing occurs. (did I say that?)
Yes, stopping suboxone is uncomfortable, no matter how you 'titrate'.
If you flew w/ the Eagles, your gonna have to crawl w/ the pigs. Meaning; For every action there is a reaction. I abused drugs to avoid pain, so stopping drugs causes discomfort. NOTHING IS FREE, WE R GONNA BE IN SOME ANNOYING PAIN! (How long depends on our age and willingness to change, but does it really friggin' matter?) The fear of pain kept me in bondage most of my life. So embrace it and journal or blog.
2. Expect a loss of appetite, mild depression, boredom and cramps.
I just got hungry last nite and each time I awoke during sleeping hrs. I wanted to eat. Progress!
Although not nearly as intense as oxy, heroin or the anti-christ, methadone w/drawals, it lasts longer than heroin or oxy, but not necessarily methadone.
3. Each day will get better.
Aside from days 1 and 2 and depending on the individual, I have gotten progressively better w ea. day. Without drinking or eating or aminos or vitamins, I may have made this harder.
4. By attaching leg weights and arm weights, my twitching and kicking became exercise, expediating the recovery process. I wish I thought of this years ago, or I wish I never had to think this way. lol
5. Plan on downtime.
Get a space or place where you can feel whatever w/drawal brings and it is o.k. If not, I would have relapsed immediatley. Again, the duration depends on individual circumstances.
6. In lieu of the aforementioned, try and have at the very least a huggable pet and ideally a family member or loved one or this site near you so you do not feel hopeless.
7. Immodium, showers and lots of fluids will help as well. Avoid caffeine as it adgitates the mind.
8. Protect yourself w/ honesty.
Ever found yourself sick in jail wishing you had just saved a bit so you would be cool till you could re-up? I QUALIFY!
Turn over my keys, that last pill / fix of whatever, so that I can finish what I started.
9. Share what hurts and what works and keep a sense of humor.
(self explanitory)
10. STIMULATE YOUR PREFRONTAL CORTEX FOR SLEEP!
The more intellectually stimulating, the more exhausted you will become and able to have a drueling nap after just 5-10 minutes of sodoku, chess or any other puzzling activities.
Lastly,
Hold and attitude of gratitude, don't ***** too much and stay outside for as long as you can each day.
