Thank you for what you said - I was reading the posts about sub and I panicked. I have been on it for 1 week now with a 6 month plan with my dr. and I feel great. But those comments those people make terrify me! It's so good to hear that you had a good experience!

what r ur goals? u didnt state the degree of ur addiction before the sub...neither here nor there but it doesnt sound as if being free of narcotics is ur goal at this time..and no one would judge u for that...sub is a legal narcotic and keeps peeps off the streets//does good things for some//depends on ur goals..it can also be a new DOC for an addict....u can take as much as the dr prescribes u and feel ok cos it is not considered abuse//horribly addictive and he11 to get off of//but u r not abusing ur scrip nor out on the streets either
We r all different///sub for life is a viable option for some as is methadone for life//some need a maintenence narcotic to make it thru their life here on earth//some want to be free of substances and live life without narcotics or any cloudy substance///but if they can not do so successfully then a maintenece narcotic is an option for them at some point....dunno know ur past..but wishing u the best for ur future
I dont think that people who have had a bad experience with suboxone should consider that the norm and scare people off it who it might help.
I have been on it since June when I detoxed and tapered myself down from 16 mgs to 4,with no problem whatsoever.I quit it completely because I was having back surgery, and did not taper from the 4 mgs but just stopped and did not experience a hint of withdrawal.
Everybody handles drugs differently, their metabolism and the way the body breaks down drugs varys from person to prson. What happens to you should not be considered the norm for any drug.
All I can say, is I truly hope you will talk to your doctor regarding the best program for you..... I can't wrap my head around what the above posts are stating... but then again I don't pretend to be a physician.
Everyone is different, not every treatment plan works for every person.... And MOST importantly, you really need to discuss this with your medical professional that has your complete medical history so they can provide input of what is best for you and your body, as well as a pharmaceutical detox (meaning getting off the drugs you have been taking).
Good luck and I wish you the best, I really hope you can have a candid open dialog with your doc.
Please please just stop the perc's...
I too was on Sub for 2 yrs, i was on 8mg a day. In the beginning, Sub seemed like a blessing, but after about 6 months i felt awful. i would wake up in the morning and feel my body going into w/d's, so i'd have to get that nasty orange pill under my tongue quick..it sucked! Sub is only supposed to be used short-term, but there are SO many greedy docs out there(like mine was), that they want u to be on it 4ever! My insurance didnt cover Sub, and so in 2 yrs, i spent like $12,000 on the dr and the med.
Then last Oct, i was laid off from my job, which actually was ok, b/c i knew i wanted to get off the Sub. Well i have been thru w/d's with different opiates, and Sub was the worst! I felt awful for about a month, so then mentally i just couldnt take moping around the house. So i got a months' worth of Norco's, just to have a break from the Sub w/d's. So then i had to w/d from the Norco, but it was the usual w/d: the first 2-4 days are awful and then it got better. And now i am fine.
Sounds like you got a blessing in disguise when they gave u the morphine to override the Sub, although i have a feeling that when you stop the Perc's, that the Sub is still lingering in yr brain..so it may take longer for you to w/d. But please dont go back to Sub. Did you know that Sub is 10-20 times stronger in yr brain than morphine? and there isnt enough research about long-term effects of it. I shouldnt have been on it for 2 yrs. I know ppl will try to argue with me, but i have done my research and been thru hell with that drug! I would rather w/d off of any other opiate and just be done with it and go to meetings, therapy, or whatever you need to start living sober...
Best wishes!
Hey there you,
Stay away from the Sub's. I just Withdrawled from them for 2 weeks straight, and it was HELL!!!...I would deal with the few days of WD's and then live your life, but I would also get on some depression pills because it helped me soooo much with my mood even in the worst of it!!! You can do it...Dont jump into the sub's again, its not worth it. If you take the pain now you will be free of the pills and begin a new life a clear life, a HAPPY life!!! I wish you all the best, and ill be here for any questions you may have!!!

I vote you stay off the Sub......talk to your doctor about your detox too...just taper down the percs and jump off when you're comfortable with it...or talk it over with the doc. and go CT
Good luck.
Lots of people report feeling lethargic when they come off of sub...It will pass.
