Going Inpatient Tomorrow

So I finally made the decision to go into a treatment facility after months of battling my crystal meth addiction and to be honest I'm terrified! I know this has to be the next step but I'm so incredibly anxious about my decision and second guessing myself. The hardest thing for me today is knowing that I will be away from my husband and kids for so long. I keep breaking down every time I think about it. My daughter is 13 and really relies on me and my 17 year old son and I are very close. I have to break the news to them today and I'm not sure what to expect. After joining this forum I received so much encouragement and support and I am so grateful! I guess I'll be checking back in about 30 days! Thanks to all of you so much.  Any suggestions about making this time as successful as possible? I'm so scared.

Eager to hear what you thought of inpatient and what you got out of it!  I did 30 days of IP in 2012 and loved it.  It really set the foundation for my recovery.  Of course I was not happy at all about going but I was actually pretty bummed my last week there that it was coming to an end.  It really was an incredible experience.  Looking forward to hearing from you!

Congrats on making this decision! Inpatient programs are great. Its nice to be removed from the environment so we can concentrate on our recoveries. I look forward to hearing how it went.

This is a very positive step into getting your entire life back. I've been in recovery since 1982 and have met many people at my meetings who've been to IP. From what I've seen, it gives you an edge on how it all works and why. Like IBK said, learn all you can. You'll be learning a new way of living. My daughter has been in IP for two weeks and gets out tomorrow. Her drug of choice is Crack. To be honest, she's wishing her insurance would pay for more days.  She's gotten a lot out of it. Looking forward to hearing from you when you get home.

I so appreciate the encouraging words. Everything said was so true. Sadly, I have been absent from my family's lives more then I like to admit. This is just a short amount of time in perspective. It will be so worth it! I'm very hopeful! It's been awhile since I could honestly say that. I will be checking back in 30 days. I'm praying for strength and success! Thanks again.

Wonderfully said by IBK.  The time you're going to be away from your family is nothing compared to the time that your addiction has robbed from you and your loved ones.

This is a huge and wonderful step to freedom from meth.  It won't be easy, and you've got a lot of work to do, but there will be nothing in your life that you do that will be more worth it and more rewarding.

I wish you the very best!  I look forward to reading your updates!!

this is great news....i never did impatient but i hear some of them are actually very nice...almost like a mini vacation.....it will give you the time you need to get you mind right.  I think your making the best decision you can.....beating addiction first hand is not something anybody can just do.......im thinking about getting my ducks in order taking med leave and joining you....i dont think i can do it alone this time.

and if im doubting myself i probably need it

I think this is awesome news and I know that you will enjoy this more than you think you will. Great job on making this decision. We really need to start thinking clearly before we can even begin to focus on staying clean and that means getting some days off and away from the drug, well some of us anyway. Best of luck and don't be afraid. ;)

Your fear is natural but it is now time to walk through it to the other side. This can be a life changing experience if you allow it to be. You worry about being away from your family for 30 days but how long have you really been "away" from them while you were using. Take this opportunity to make the changes. Keep your ears open, listen and absorb everything you can while you are there. Best of luck!!
