USEING OPIATES TO DETOX OFF ,METHADONE ,HELP!!!

IM NEW AS OF YESTERDAY AND POSTED THIS ALREADY TODAY BUT I GUESS PEOPLE WORK DAY JOBS AND CANT ANSWER ME AS FAST AS I HOPE (THATS NOT A DIG) IVE BEEN TRYING TO ACCUMILATE SOME MEDS LAST NIGHT AND LAST NIGHT I HAD A FRIEND GIVE ME, NOT SELL ME 3 BIG BAGS OF HEROINE. ACTUALLY 4 I DID 1 LAST NIGHT BECAUSE ITS BEEN LIKE 12 DAYS THAT IVE BEEN OFF THE METHADONE I NEEDED A BREAK 1 DAY OF NO PAIN, BUT AFTER TALKING TO ALEXANDRA SHE SAID BESIDES THE RECIPE TO TRY AND WEEN MYSELF WITH SOME PILLS NOTHING TO STRONG THOUGH, IVE ACCUMALATED THROUGH SOME GREAT FRIENDS 20 VIKES (7.5)--4 PERCS(5'S) 2 DILAUDIDS(THE 2'S ?)AND IVE ALSO GOT 10 XANAX BARS(2MGS)IVE GOT A VITAMIN B COMPLEX(BOTTLE) A CALCIUM TAB(BOTTLE) MULTI VIT, SOME 500 MG C TABS NOW I KNOW I NEED MORE STUFF FOR THE RECIPE BUT THE QUESTION IS THE HEROINE CAN I USE THAT FOR THE TAPER ? YOU KNOW LIKE TAKE THE SMALL PACKET AND BREAK IT INTO 2-3DOSES PER BAG A BUMP IN THE AM AND ONE AT NIGHT THEN START WITH THE PILLS LET ME KNOW PLEASE!! ITS FUNNY ALL THEESE DRUGS CAME TO ME FREE FROM PEOPLE WHO KNOW IM KIKIN METHADONE AND SEE HOW BAD I AM, I DIDNT USE AT ALL WHEN I WAS ON THE METH TILL THE END WHEN I WAS DETOXING, IM A PRO DRUMMER AND ON GIG NIGHTS I NEEDED TO SUPPLEMENT MY DOSE TO PERFORM,IM ON SIC LEAVE NOW NEEDLESS TO SAY MY FIANCE IS THE SINGER AND LEADER SO SHE IS FULLY SUPPORTIVE AND PROUD OFF ME THANK GOD SHE LOVES ME    PEACE...

I'm probably going to get **** for this but i would say yes, I would take a bump in the am BUT do not take another until ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY............

You can do man! Think of how great it would be to have that natural adrenalin flowing through your vains when you are playing the drums. Awesome. i love the drums, so mush energy. By people giving you a supply of drugs, is not helping it is just tempting. Please try not to USE it please, i know its hard but you can do it. Can you get to a NA meeting every night? I cant cause they only have them twice a week here, Hamilton New Zwaland. Peace

Ralphie, I have to tell you--I am completely against the idea of doing heroin to come off of methadone.  In my opinion, it is asking for trouble.  You see, although heroin and pills are BOTH addictive, there is a lot of extra baggage that comes with heroin addiction (for one, you cannot purchase it legally in this country.  If you are using heroin to detox, then you are still surrounding yourself with the element that you want to be rid of (other junkies, heroin dealers, etc).  It is too easy to slip back into old habits.  I am disagreeing with the advice you got from GWH--stay away from the street dope.  If you can't get onto a detox program through a free hospital or doctor, then try to get some pills and give them to someone to hold and dole out to you if you can't be trusted to taper yourself (and don't feel bad if you can't, because most can't).

I did a quick internet search on "free clinics."  Didn't you say you were in Florida?  Because I found a free clinic called the St. Petersburg FLA.  Go to this website and check them out.  YOu could give them a call and ask if they would help you with detox.  http://www.stpetersburgfreeclinic.org/index.htm

Hi bros and sis!  How nice to be able to talk honestly with my own kind.  I am older (50) going through a messy divorce, financial problems, just lost my job and took my last vicodin yesterday morning (so I know I must be getting better, but not fast enough) I am going absolutely nuts.  Anything about going through withdrawal and menopause at the same time, cause I feel that's what's happening.  I know all about meetings but I'm too messed up to go.

my first impulse is to say DON'T do it.  however, i can't judge you, and i've done lots of things that weren't the right things to do.  i wish i had a good suggestion, but all i can say is be safe.  keep posting, and let us know how you are doing.

good morning, well i did some of the dope i had last night but i got rid of the rest this morning,gave it back to the lady who gave it to me,  the pills i have, i did not touch, my better half will be home monday from  her dads wedding that i had to skip out on because of my withdrawals ,i told her last night im still sick and it may be another month even before i feel better, and she said "so it takes another month you didnt get this way overnight did you"i know i shouldnt have used but the sickness was so bad and being home alone this week, well, i needed a break,i know thats a cop out, im just hoping  that by useing after being sick and clean for 10 days from the methadone, that i dont have to staart over, you know what i meen?i hope the meth. was still coming out of my body while i was using other opiates to taper. i was doing a bump before bed so i could sleep  ,after not sleeping more than 3 hrs. in a 3 day stretch it felt nice to sleep 10 hrs last night but tommorow it will start over again im sure its been 2 weeks almost since my last dose of methadone for 10 days i did no drugs but the last few days i slipped ,i cant wait till this is done and i can play my music again i cant even hold my drum sticks they got heavy!!! ha ha, im going to a meeting tonight thats the only thing my girl is insisting on im so glad i found this site and all of you people ill be here all day so ill talk to you all soon   peace

I am also detoxing off methadone, but controlled with my doctor's help.  I don't know if this will help anyone or not.

I am taking 2-5mg tablets 4x/day.  He is substituting one dose of my methadone every three days with Lortab.  So today, my 4:00 dose will be Lortab.  In 3 days, my 12:00 and my 4:00 dose will be Lortab, until I have completely switched over to the Lortab.  Then we will wean off that completely.  I did not want to withdraw from the methadone.

I have only been on it for 3 weeks, and I have felt terrible ever since.  I've lost 12 lbs.  I can't eat anything and just feel horrible.

So, if you were wondering how a doctor would detox off meth to opiates, that's how he's having me do it.

OH JULLIE I am so glad you posted that question I too am going through withdraw at times, i am trying to get clean, and i am going through premenopause, i am taking the injection Lupron for the treatment of endometriosis and a tumor in my uterus, and you know how menopause is , hotflashes and night sweats and mood swings from hell! I am only 28 and going through this, i am most likely going to be having a complete hysterectomy soon, and if i am clean before that i dont know what i will do when i have to start the pain meds after surgery, because ther eis no way in hell i can have surgery and take something like motrin for pain, just wont help i am sure of it. It will be great to talk with someone who is going through what i am .oh yes if anyone is not familiar with lupron injections it is also used to treat patients with prostate cancer, my grandfather is taking them also and what it does to women is shuts their ovaries down so the estrogen wont flow which the endometriosis feeds off of. Which puts a woman into early menopause. I hope to hear from you soon.

EVERYONE, PLEASE EXCUSE MY SPELLING FROM HERE ON OUT :-) I am 39. Will be 40 on Christmas day. I had been diagnosed with endromitriosuS when I was 26. Had very bad periods from the start. I started when I was 9. I had to have a total hystorectomy at 28. When I woke up from the surgery I had instant hot flashes and sweats. No fun. I took premerin for the first 3 years. The lil burgandy ones, lowest dose. Then the doc retired, I got some lady who told me I did not need them and took me off. I had nothing until last year. During that time of nothing, my skin became dry, painful intercourse and I was heading towards osteo. My new doc put me on the Vellve patch. It is much better now. I change them every three days and if I forget the flashes remind me really quick. Menopause is not helping my vicoden problem but, it could be a lot worse. Good luck. I never wanted to give birth but I'm a damn good step mom and now grandmother since Feb 16 of this year.

i'm looking for help ! i got out of a detox on 08/14/02 for alcohol and heroin abuse. originally i was doing oxys - 20-40 mg. a day, for over a year. my doctor just prescribed me clonodine and bentyl. he asked me if i needed methadone. i told him i didn't know - (he's the doctor) i have been off heroine since 08/10/02-completely !  i slipped and had 2 beers over a week ago 08/17/02. i'm still feeling crappy sometimes-but i'm clean and going to AA 5-6 nights a week. i'm also looking for work and my mind isn't into it. (telecommunications)
everynight i wake up sweating and have to change my t-shirt. the doc said i was detoxing still- most likely. would methadone help me from feeling this way? i'm often feeling down, and i'm not sure why he suggested methadone.  whats your thoughts ? thanks.

hey there im going through the methadone detox now, worse than heroine w/d by a long shot but maybe your doc has a good short term plan with it but im just totaly against any methadone use! im not a pro but i kicked heroine twicw cold turkey and hydros then the last time i tried kicking vicodins i was talked into the methadone program   big mistake  but some other people might know more about a thing called the 20 day plan   it wasnt known or offered to me but if youve been clean for dope 10 days the worste is over and the alchahol ,  will be easier to stop when the opiates are gone im sure ive never had an alcahol problem but i couldnt imagine kickin 2 totaly different things at once    good luck  just think teice no 3 times before you go the meth route  please   peace ralphie

ralphie, thanks a million. i needed to hear from someone like you who had 1st hand experience. i just came from an AA meeting and bumped into a buddy who told me not to try the methadone treatment either- he was surprised my doctor even asked me if i thought i needed methadone- especially after i told him i just got out of detox. i really want to get clean and sober because life was becoming unmanageable and nonproductive--i was never like that before i started using. i thought that methadone might actually help me, but now i think that's just the disease trying to creep up on me - it's sneaky like that, so i've been told. i don't want to even attempt the 20 day trial if there is such a plan- but thanks for the feedback. it's been 17 days since i've used heroine, oxy's - over 90 days clean! alcohol- 10 days clean today. my doc said in three weeks he may want to initiate an anti- depressant drug -- i don't think so! i'd like a second opinion please. my own. let me know if i could give you my thoughts on anything. you really gave me something to think about- sobriety.

Both u guys are remarkable people!  Reading your post has helped me alot.. I never new much about methadone, had no idea it would be harder to w/d than herion.  CLeanup, after what ralphy said about his w/ds, id definately not take any meth. Ive been clean from heroin for many years, mainly cos its not around. Id had to leave my enviroment to stop.  Leaving Hawaii was not an easy thing to do, lol.  But it worked for me.  Still i have a thing for opiates and guess i always will.  Trying to stay off the pills, the tussinex, ect ect.  But it seems like something always tempts me back.  Today im on my fifth day clean from tussinex and it wasnt an easy w/d. Im wondering if taking something in liquid form via mouth such as meth or tussinex, makes it harder to w/d.?? Humm, anyone know?? Good luck to you both, life is so much better when youre clean!  Deb

deb, it was good to here some positive feedback about the methadone. i am struggling today and its 3 weeks since i've used any drugs-except alcohol- 2weeks.  but i still never got on the meth like my doctor " suggested" but like my brother said - the doctor doesn't know what Alcoholics Anonymous is all about and i really want to be clean- my head is nice and clear, and its a good feeling! i have a craving for opiates too but i've been able to not do any-and i know how you feel (i think) and it's not easy. as far as the liquid forms i'm not sure if its stonger taking it that way, orally-it depends on the dosage and how much you take i would think. i'm driving my fiance' nuts over this whole situation detoxing but she still is there for me so keep on pluggin and good luck. nice to hear from you. i hope i can keep up the good work too. but it aint easy......................my friends and family help to keep me clean

Hi it was nice of you to write back.  Sounds like your on the right track and im so glad for you choosing not to do the meth.  From what ive read on these post about meth w/d, i cant believe any doctor would suggest it.  Only a very seriously addicted person who has tried every other means should take the meth.  Im sure is very contraversal sub and some people really have to use meth. Anyway, you hang in there as i will and Happy Labor Day! Deb

deb, thanks for your thoughts.  i couldnt believe my doctor wanted to give me meth either- and i wanted to say yes and a little red devil jumped up on my shoulder but i thought and new i better not get meth or i would be right back where i didnt want to be. if you want to get clean i can only suggest you try an AA meeting or else an n/a meeting-just a suggestion. its working for me. let me know if i can help. i'd like to help anyone out if i can. hope to talk to you soon.

Thanks Patrick, nice to share with you. Im sure a few meetings would be great for me.. Unfortunately with my work skedule i dont have much time for them.. Im thinking of taking sat and sun off next shift bid at work and going to church. I enjoy the surmons when i do go, which isnt often lately.. The pastor at this church my husband goes to is a former drug user himself.. Altho i doubt he was an opiate junkie.. I think he was more into cocaine, you know, the party scene.. Hes pretty funny and i always feel better when i hear what he has to say.  I attended AA meetings in the past but i dont have a problem with alcohol and altho the meetings were good for me, i didnt get that connection of needed from people who could relate to the opiate fixation.  Im so glad i found this forum for now and so far im doing good too.. Has been over a week and all i suffer from now is a bit of sneezing and not sleeping too well.  Hope your doing good and lets keep intouch.. thanks deb

deb, how are you tonight? im glad to hear from you again. my problem was heroin and alcohol. its not easy but people tell me just dont pick up a drink and thats what im doing - and its working. it seems like youre trying to beat the opiates- is that heroin or oxys or what ?  well im too tired to write. i just got a full time job after collecting unemployment benefits for 9 months.  im happy to be back to work making some real money. hope things work out for you. write back . let me know how things are working out. so long for now..........................

Hi, sounds like youre doing very well..Now that your back at work, youll be too tired to get messed up. I dont drink much but i use too and i did heroin for many years but was about 10 yrs ago.  Now i just occasionally get strung out on pills or in the last time it was tussinex, which is a very strong cough med with hydrocodone and a few other things that are very addictive. The buzz  from this is much better than pills and harder to witdrawal from but its been almost 10 days and im starting to feel much better.  I dont have a problem with drinking and think its because im working and i just cant function with a hangover or maybe im just not an aloholic but an addict.  Either way, im trying my best to succeed in life and these drugs have held me back my entire adult life!  Its time to throw in the towel and get my life back and god i hope im strong enough.. Kind of a long winded message, lol, hope i didnt bore you.  Cya soon Deb
