What's the story with ibogaine?

What's the story with ibogaine?

I'm new to this site and it seems most people here are helpful and informed.

Without going into too much personal history..... About 3 or 4 years ago I injured my back at work, saw a doc got meds then started getting vicodin and oxy on the street. I then made the brilliant move to methadone also from street around 9 months ago. I was taking 50-60 mg a day but not a reliable source so sometimes I'd have to go a week or 2 without. I'm sure some of you know what some of those weeks were like. So 3 months ago I saw my family doc. He has me on 30mg methadone and zoloft. Our plan is start slow taper in a couple months.

So a couple questions....... Is the taper going to be anything like the living hell that cold turkey is? I know what that's like and wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Question 2, I've been doing some research on ibogaine. It just seems to good to be true that you can check into a place and they give you ground roots of an african plant, you experience an out-of-body thing, relax/recover and walk out with a clean slate.

I kinda rambled but thanks in advance for any input y'all

Is the doc weaning you off the Zoloft too?  I dont know how the wd's will be with the methadone as i never took that.  Others that have will be on and can help you with your question.  Nights are usually slow so keep checking back.

As for the other question......If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

Yes, We're gonna get me off the methadone first. His plan is slow taper around 4-6 months. The zoloft taper is down the road when I'm doing well without the dones.

Thanks for taking the time.

Being adventurous..i tried this herb once...and it was an out of body experience/but not a pleasant one..many meds r made from plants unless they r chemically created..dont let it fool u that it is an herb or a plant/as plants and herbs are the main ingredients/after processed that r in many drugs that r abused

I threw the rest of it away....i do not see how it could help with wds...i would choose kratom over ibogaine..but it is best to do it on ur own...try not to use a crutch cept the first week or 2..u may need a sleep aid and sumpin for anxiety...tapering off of methadone u need to be ready and learn what to expect/but even then we r all different..there is some great info on quitting methadone in the health pages///a slow controlled taper with ur drs help is advised

I have used methadone at 20-30 mgs for a few weeks at a time for pain..but have not dealt with wd from this drug..i knew better and did not take it for prolonged periods of time..but we gotta do what we gotta do to get clean..perhaps switching to methadone wasnt the best choice//i dont know ur original doc or dose..fact is //this is where u r..and u gotta move forward from here..aftercare and ur dr can help u lots///plus this forum...this forum rox!

I am still planning to go with my doctors taper plan.

I do want to satisfy my curiosity concerning ibogaine though. When you say you tried it once was that on your own or at one of the clinics in canada or europe where staff is there to assist? How long ago? Dose?

Thanks for the input. And you are so right, this forum is amazing!

Can u send me some info on the IBG  at the clinic?  love learning new theings ansd stufn a treatment center and u respect them...go for it..i would have to study back up on how IBG helps cos i forgaot..call me crazy!  LOL

Iboaine is an hallucogenic, not dissimilar to LSD.  There have been some controlled trials, so it's not completely untested.  It seems to work for some people by producing a psychic shift but no surprise, it's not a magic wand.  You have to be prepared to go for the follow up therapy to work through any issues that come up during the treatment.

For some hard core addicts, it has produced the mind shift they need to commit to staying clean.

The site I checked out is ibogainehouse.com. A place in Vancouver BC Canada. I'm trying to get as much unbiased info on them and ibogaine in general so I can decide whether this  might work for me.

I have looked into kratom but not provigil so thanks for the info.

The research I've been doing agrees with your LSD  characterization. That doesn't bother me that much. I'd just like to hear from anyone that has tried it, where they tried it, was the staff at the clinic professional, how well did it go or not go, how much $, withdrawals really gone and on and on..............

I know there's no free lunch or magic wand. I'm still working with my doc on my methadone taper and it's going well more days than not. But the thought that ibogaine could work really has me curious.

I would be interested in answers to those questions also.  I don't know anyone personally who has completed a program either.  My sister is a long term alcoholic who has been through pretty much every other program & is open to the idea of Ibogaine as a last resort.
There doesn't seem to be a high level of interest on the forum so maybe we could trade info by PM.

Cheers.

Sure, feel free to send a PM anytime. I'll send along info as soon as I have something that seems reliable.
