HI as you can see by the other posters it can be dangerous to just stop taking it you need to taper off and you need to due it under a doctors supervision let the doctor know how much you have been taking and he can come up with a safe plan for you.. this is nothing to mess with I tapered odd of clonipin and it su cked it takes a good 8 weeks to get threw it and much of that time trying to sleep was impossible keep posting for suport god luck and God bless.....Gnarly
Yes, I took diazepam for over a year. I didn't take it everyday and thought I could cold turkey since I didn't take it as prescribed, say nothing about abusing it. Boy was I wrong! Nothing helped with the withdrawal. I felt like I was being choked 24/7 and an elephant was sitting on my chest.
The doctor is now helping me with a taper. Not trying to scare you, just wanted to offer my experience and support.
The benzos are a different story than the opiates when it comes to cold turkey though, it could be very dangerous to jump from benzos of any name without proper medical supervision. I had a13yr addiction and was taking copious amounts daily.........huge head f*ck coming off.....physically, I'm lucky I didn't seize or die. Take caution .....prayers
How long were you using it? I am just starting to detox from long term use of codeine and flu tablets.
Occasionally, I use codeine with valium/diazapham.
I believe the withdrawal symptoms are almost similar.
What I did was to buy a substitute syrup to " trick" my mind that im still using codeine. I bought a cough syrup with very small dosage of promethazine.
We're on the same boat, I hope all goes well with you. :)
Hi asavre,
How much a day have you been taking? Are you in withdrawal now?
Hey friend.......diazepam is a benzo and should really be stopped by weaning down slowly, under a doctor's care. Withdrawal can be dangerous and send you into seizure. Tell us your story, how much are you taking and for how long? Stay close by, others will be by to lend support. It's very late and a little slow right now.
