What about me? I was on sub for over six months, tapered to a tiny piece a day, ran out then went into withdrawl. It's been 6 days now and Im still not 100%. but Im almost there. YOU DO GET WITHDRAWL FROM SUBOXONE.

i agree on everyone being able to go to a program..preferably in the mountains (: for 3 months..no work just focus on ourselves and getting everything together...i could not have done that as no one would be paying my bills while i was gone and my insurance has no benefits for that type of thing..i checked..plus i would lose my job...but if i coulda i woulda....

I feel that it doesn't matter what amount you were taking for a year. I believe suboxine is for people with a long history of abuse. which in turn would mean long term sub. use.
a year is a short period of addication. As if you had major surgery or accident  with  trauma and got hooked on oc's or anything , it wouldn't be a history as like say someone who has a 28 yr hx of addication to morphine. a 5 yr hx of heroin, .
I agree with what you were taking that you needed detox to stop them, why can't /couldn't  you go to rehab? insurance? work? My daughter has interstitis cytitcis. A disease of the bladder (see SHELLBELL) it is very painful. she was taking percocets like candy for 6 months. she went to detox for 3 days when she couldn't get them filled again, she had to b/c she couldn't sweat out the wd's. Detox gave her benadryl, phenabartial (sp) for the first 24 hours. Then phengren. When she left she was to follow up with a sub dr. She went to the local quack sub dr. The first day of sub she puked in drs ov. Althrough for 3 days then stopped taking it. It wasn't what she needed. She needed a good support team which she found at a meeting.
It would be wonderfull if everyone of us could afford to take a 28 day rehab, 90 would even be better. !! They make the places look like they are vacation time shares. I'd love to be able to spend days at groups, journeling, learning how to change my life so I don't act like an addict anymore. taking walks, yeah right. I guess you have to be real poor or real rich to go to those places. I know that if anyone had ever done an intervention with me I would jump at the chance to go.
But some how I assume most of us are working, supporting our famlies in bad times. Taking a rehab vacation isn't in the cards. So we use tools that are available to us. For some it's suboxine, meetings. sponsers. counseling.
sometimes it seems before hydrocodone there were not to many addicted to presp drugs. It was like a secret unless you were a true addict. people were addicted to heroin and methadone. which some people still use to stop using. There is a methadone clinic in my city. 3 sub drs.
Please if I offened you I am sorry. I don't ever want to dismiss someone's addication or withdrawl, it is a personal journey, yet one that we all have to take.
I try to think of only what is going on today, right now. b/c if I worry about tomorrow or dwell on yesterday then I am missing what is happening now. I have already lost 28 yra, I don't want to lose anymore ,

I cannot say enough about the amino acids. they really do help.

make you think clearer and sharper and even seem to give some energy.
they are the best thing i know of for healing the brain. i quit almost 1 year ago and started on the aminos right away. after about 4 months i stopped taking them. i found that my memory wasn't that great and not so focused. so i take them all the time now. and if i miss one day only, i can tell.
l- glutamine
l-theanine

hope you guys are feeling great soon.

wds from any drug are not "over" completely for a long time...yey..4 days to a week or even 2 for some drugs...but real wd lasts months mentally...i would feel sluggish and have a flash of clamminess even a month or 2 after i quit
like hopsing said..best thing to do is when u feel bad just blow it off..everyone feels bad sometimes..do what u can to feel better and then tomorrow is another day...dwelling in it definitely does not help..a positive attitude and not letting urself sink into the doomers for too long/a positive attitude is so important...making changes for the better and sticking to ur goals...wds are no fun but in reality it is a small price to pay for what we have done to our brain for years...looking forward and staying positive is important..doing everything u can do to make urself healthy and keep ur chances of staying and being clean the best they can be...keep posting and dont ever ever give up

what does only being on oxys for a year have to do with anything. I was so addicted to these things I was popping them every hour. What else could i have done without going to rehab?

Hi,
If you were only one oxys for a year & I was a sub dr. I wouldn't  have recommend it for you. See oc's post earlier that she started on suboxine. I posted  my thoughts & expernice with sub, so far on that thread.
and by the way suboxine has a synthenic opiate in it.

thanks. If you mean by how long have you been killing yourself as how many pills was I taking, For the last year straight 20-30 oxys a day. And some would be 15 or 30 mg pills not just 10mg pills. Then went on suboxone 6 or more months ago. Actually typing this at this moment I feel totally fine. I'm at work also. Its a golf range in NY and its cold and its so slow were just sitting around. But I actually feel good right now. But thats when I get scared because Im afraid it will go away. I do have to stay positive. Especially for tomorrow because I work landscaping(actually working hard) on the side and this will be a huge test for me. I have to get PUMPED for this.

You are feeling better so now it is up to you to make yourself better. You have to stay positive about this. It will get better. Eat right, drinks lots of water, vitamins and healthy food. How long have you been killing yourself. Yes it will take more time than a week but if you are already feeling better then you are well on your way. Keep going, keep up the good work and stay positive.

My doc said it should be 4-7 days before it's all over. Like i said I'm 75% now. But what if it just lingers on and on and stays this way? And why is it that I feel so much better in the morning and a little worse in the afternoon? I guess I'll see what happens tomorrow. but if this lingers on for another 4 or 5 days, I'll be very nervous. But it definately has been better every day.

Thanks guys for your helpful input.  If there was a GOOD part of my using Sub - it is that it serves as the main reason I do not crave Opiates any more --- I just cannot imagine taking stuff again knowing what lies at the end of the road for me if I do.   So, for that reason alone - I am happy to be FREE.  All the best and I genuinely hope that many others will continue to post regardless of where you stand on this issue -- This remains the premier site for addiction and offers the best information and encouragement to those who still suffer from it.  I personally don't know what I would have done without it.  All the best.

Yes you do. People have to start realizing that suboxone has an opiate in it. There is no easy way to get through the withdrawals.....if there were we would all probably never stop. Imagine taking an opiate to get off an opiate???????and it work. If we don't get thru the wd's whats to keep us from doing it again? I'm on day 5 one day behind ya, and starting to feel a lot better....the hardest part has to be finding energy again.
