No question

I'm out. Yeah I've taken a drink. Day 256.  (no Xanax) or other substances.

I would like to thank everyone here for the more than ever expected help. This site is a life saver and the people here are the stars that make it so. I'm sorry, I do feel I've let some of you down. No, I've let you all of you down by leaving myself down. Right now, going backwards is still not an option to me. I'll be moving forward and dealing with the curve-balls as I have done up until now. NO! I've not giving up. As always I Wish You all my Very Best Wishes! ....ike Until some day.

Hey buddy:

I've had a drink sometimes too.  It was never an issue for me; the pills were.  Was alcohol a DOC for you?

You're polarizing everything because you feel so desparate and overwhelmed.  You're  GOOD GUY who has helped many, including me.

Don't leave.   Its' up to you, but I really hope you will just stay here and keep kicking and screaming like the rest of us.

It wouldn't be the same forum without you.

Have some mercy for my friend Ike...Hugs,
-Robin

Hey Dude no reason to leave that drink was a bump in your road to recovery  in itself can be harmless or it could be the begginig of a relapse that can very well kill you....it is up to you ....every day we all wake up with the same dission  do I stay clean or use...today I made the right deccion.....I would encourge you to stick around you have a lot to offer...I know you have a lot on your platter with health ishues  but a drink is not going to solve that    it is life on lifes terms  stick it out  being clean has a lot more to offer then just not taking pills....Gnarly

Ike, I think you should reflect on this decision for a few days.  Why don't you come back at the end of the week and tell us how you feel then?

Ike- I would bet there is an inkling in you that wants to stay and wants help. Otherwise you would have just disappeared.

What would you tell someone else who wrote your exact same post?

When you're down and out and giving up seems like the next right step...THAT is the time to hang in there.

You haven let ME down. If you've let yourself down then don't do that again. That's all.  Listen, you had a cancer diagnosis. It's difficult. You don't say why you had a drink(just one?) but maybe things got to be overwhelming for you. I can understand how that goes...

Just be careful with yourself and decide if this is going to be a problem for you. If it is then you know what to do. We're only human Ike...just take care.

You and I never had much direct interaction Ike. I've been in and out of the forum myself for a while but I have paid attention to your posts. One of the "problems" with medhelp I think that it cannot substitute for aftercare. I put problems in quotes because it's not designed to substitute. But what happens to some of us is that we skip most of us who become too dependent on medhelp is that we simply decide to skip true recovery. We go right from quitting to trying to help others. You wrote just a week ago that you were tired of not enjoying anything. Wow! I get that my friend. It socks! I wish you well and hope that you reconsider and come back soon. Be careful with the booze buddy. Unsuccessful substitutions have been the story of my life. I'm sure you know that booze and Xanax are both screw with GABA B sites in the brain. That would be an easy and potentially deadly switch for you. God Bless and good luck. Darrin
