long term effects

For the past 6 year, I have been taking 8mg of valium everyday. Fot the past 2 years, I have been having a host of unexplained aches and pains through out my body. My PCP has stress tested me...had an egg done, cant find any reason for the strange aches and pains that seem to plaque my upper body. Someone told me that these may actually be withdraw from valium even though I'm still taking the drug. I asked my PCP about this and he sort of shoe-shoed the idea. He can't explain the pains, but does not think that 8mg of valium could of cause me to tolerrabce and withdraw. Any ideas? Is my PCP just covering his arse?

Hello, if you have access to a medical doctor, ask him for an anti-nausea med.  I have taken these before and they really help prevent you from throwing up and takes the nausea away. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the med.  But the MD will know.   How are you doing at day 4?  How has your WD's been?Email me either here or my private address at yahoo.com.   Take care my friend.  CTG.

Hey there,
Sorry to hear you are having a tough time.  I wonder if you have the flu?  It sounds like it to me.  But then again, i haven't been through withdrawals.  Anyways to help with the nausea, i take Gravel.  Here in Canada you can buy it without a prescription, but i don't know where you live and if you can do the same.  Just take it easy, and it too shall pass.
I hope you feel better soon,
Catherine

Can you ask the Dr. for Compazine instead? It really helped me when I was in the hospital. That and Bentyl for the stomach cramps. I stayed on the bentyl for a couple of weeks after detox. Your getting there though Suzi. Your gonna feel so glad your free!

Hi Suzie - I just read your posts; God I didn't realize you were having such a rough time.  A good thing for nausea is an over-the-counter liquid - Imitrol or Emitrol, I think. I wish you were here with me so I could fix you some peppermint tea (another stomach settler) and chicken noodle soup (the saltiness helps).  You sweetie, you - hope tomorrow is a better day.
Everyone - I just want to let everyone know this wonderful woman has e-mailed me a couple of times in the past few days checking on me to see if I was OK. AND JUST NOW after reading her posts I realize how much she is suffering!!!!  If this is not a class act, I don't know what is.
My love and prayers to everyone - recovering, struggling and those still using.  We all have to believe that there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.  Just being here is admitting we acknowledge our problem and wanting to do better.  It's a huge step, in my opinion.  Love/Peace, Lisabet

Hey Girl,

Does WD suck or what.  I absolutly hate WD with such a passion. I wish I could just pick up my glock, then shoot it and kill the *******.  The amazing thing is how I have volenteered for the WD. I hope your feeling better.  Did you get my E mail?

Thanks for writing back.  I appreciate the advice so much. I found a psych. who specializes in addiction medicine today.  Is that the same as an addictionologist?  I am supposed to gat a call back on Wednesday so I can set up an appointment.  I am also going to call my Doc. about the Quinine.  My legs hurt so bad. I can't wait until I never have that feeling again. I have learned more from this forum than from anywhere else about what we are all going through.  I did pretty well today.  I had 3 v's and 1 ms contin but I feel like complete garbage right now.  The ms was my last and I only have about 15 more v's to get me to the 27th.  I have no idea how I will make it. I was about to take a few more v's tonight to calm down, but I thought I would tough it out and post a message instead.  Everyone here is so supportive and I am so happy to have found this place.

ps - did I post in the right place?

Hi Kebby - thanks for asking about me.  I "kinda" relasped for a couple of days, but I'm trying to get back on track.  I've learned from all the great people on this forum to not beat myself up too bad when I've slipped up.  This is the greatest place; I read all the posts and just absorb everything. I have no doubt that one of these days I will be "clean" and hopefully will have the life experiences to help others (ai: hippee, Rex and others).  How are you doing, sweetie?  Hope life is good for ya.  Love/Peace, Lisabet

I am in the same boat as you, my friend. I am just finishing day # 9 of cold turkey w/d from MS Contin (morphine) also. I seem to be doing OK. I take Darvocets a couple of times a day for the aches but now I am out. I thought I would compare symptoms. Body aches, especially lower back. Very broken sleep. I keep waking up with this hot, prickly feeling. Even when I don't have the body aches my body just doesn't feel right yet. It is hard to describe. I think I felt better around day #6 and then it seems like I backslid. I just wish I could get better sleep. I feel so lethargic. I wonder when my sleep will get better. I just want to feel normal again. I guess it can only get better from here I hope. Hang in there, bud. Stay strong. God Bless.

Well now I know why you take drugs. My mom named me Kent and I'm a girl!!! It's not that funny when your a kid to have a weird name. But at least you didn't have to deal with gender identity problems. Everyone called me a boy until I grew...you know... up. (I know... you thought I was gonna say boobs, didn't you?!)

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, an addiction specialist is the same thing as an addictionologist. I think its wonderful that your being proactive in your recovery. Just make sure he's reputable.  Have you been able to speak with him on the phone so you can get a sense of how much he knows. Ask kebby her experience with dealing with a new Dr.recently, he was so clueless he told her the reason she got addicted is that she's a "fun girl" and she just needs to go have fun. If you can't find anything out about him, come early for your appointment and ask his other patients how they feel about him. and yes...you posted in the right place. If you have any questions just put out a general post for help.
good luck!

P.S. what's up with the Elvis thing? Your not projecting are you? I mean you do know he died on the toilet Right? Just checking!

Hang in there!  I've detoxed numerous times from just about every painkiller known to man!  I found that Ultram was, by far, the worst!  The nausea, headaches and anxiety were horrible, much worse than percocet, vicodin, etc.  I'm proud of you for sticking with it! This my first time here.  I can relate to almost every post I've read.

Yes, theyre called threads.

And congrats on your 3rd day clean! You are on your way up by now or tommorow.. the worst should be past!

It only gets better. Day 12 for me off a heavy morhpine habit and I feel great (not as great as before I got addicted, but getting there).

Keep on track and keep posting, we're all here to help each other. This board is what finally motivated me to quit. Dont worry about rambling or anything, just post a message.. it helps when youre on the edge of relapsing or cant sleep or whatever.

Keep it up! We are all on your side and we've (most of us) been right where you are now. Yes it sucks a bit but down the road your smile will be from ear to ear knowing you kicked those pills out of your life :)

God Bless

Cant sleep!   Im a 47 yr. old femal.  This is the 3rd time Ive detoxed. First was in a 28 day center, Second was in the hosptal. I overdosed on meth. Those two were in 1998. I stayed clean for a couplof yrs after my hospital trip. Ive been taking vics. perks. did methadone for awhile duragec patches whatever I could get. I have chronic back pain was my excuse! Most times I would buy it from other people! If I ran out Id go to hospital and fake it. I just got to the point that I couldnt stand the lies anymore! Its pretty bad when you lie to yourself and anyone who will believe you that you hurt as bad as you makeout you do. BUTTTT its agreat step forward to admit it not only to ones self but to others that we have a big problem and to take a step to corect it! Ipray to GOD above that Ican stay clean this time forever! I have 4 grown kids. Live with my boyfriend of 14 yrs. And have 7 grandchildren all of whom I LOVE very much! So I need to stay alive for them all too!    Got to try and sleep a little now! ITS4am here!!!!!!!!!!   BYE  FOR  NOW  LOVE  TO  ALL!!!!!!!  J.E.W.
