methadone blues

I feel so hopeless today... I thought I could flush my methadone and go ct but I chickened out.  I have tappered off more, but after reading more about the withdrawls that last sooo much longer than the oxy I was snorting, I'm at a loss. I have two children and can only get help for a week to get them to school and everything else.  I have not found a place to help me yet because they want money, insurance, a failed treatment or only treat "street Drugs", where do you think I got it?  I make too much money for state assistance and not enough for $400 a month treatment right now.  I stay with my mother right now and she is an addict too so I feel like my problems fall on def ears...she says she could quit her vicodin, percocet and codiene she takes everyday anytime she is no where like me...she says I played I have to pay..not the best support especially when I hear her counting her pills,, she accused me of stealing some the other day because more are gone than she realized...I have not taken anything but the methadone for a month.  I guess I look like a junkie to her now.  Just venting, I feel hopeless sometimes but have to take it day by day and not give up looking for someone to help

Basically instead of dropping a few milligrams at a time you slash into your dose heavily (say from 50 to 20 or 30). Take most of your dose morning, and save a 1/4 for night. This should help keep you from suffering too much.
Generally it takes from two to four weeks before all symptoms reside (they tend not to be too bad, but it varies. It's not full withdrawal, though!).

The worst part is that your dose seems to only last for like 12 hours before you start getting edgy and whatnot. Which is why you split it. You'll also feel like hell mornings until you settle down.
You'll know your adjusted to the new dose when you can go to bed time and go to sleep without taking the quarter dose. At that point, take the full dose in the morning. It's not easy, but it's better than just running out.

If you're worried about having enough methadone to taper properly you can do a hard fast drop. That way it isn't withdrawals and you should still be able to function. Then you can back off and do it at a better pace for the amount you're realistically getting.

Keep up with the taper. Do you have enough to taper for a long time? Slow is good with methadone, or so I've heard.
