norco addiciton

I've been on norco for about a year and a half. I take 5-6 a day, and finally had surgery and feel I don't need norco anymore but I think my body is physically addicted. What kind of doctor do I go to for help. Do I go to the doctor that has been presribing the meds?

I would go to him first..what type of symptoms r u having? If u r not an addict and only physically dependent then u can control a taper..but ur dr can help...bump down 5-10 mgs a week and he can give u sumpin to help with sleep etc,,sumpin to make it easier..if u an addict then a taper is very hard...u r at a dose that can be quit cold turkey and feel kinda cruddy for a few days/like a flu...going thru physical wd from that dose is not huge..but if u r mentally addicted things get more complicated,,, the thomas recipe is great..read thru the health pages and lean..keep posting
