opiates!!!

I started taking pain pills a long time ago. I started taking them like prescribed, for my painful menstrual cramps. Then I stated taking them more frequently. No problems..... Now I have been on them everyday, in different doses, for 3 months. I did not have any yesterday, felt like ****. Found some. Found 7 10 mg lortabs. I took 3 yesterday, took 2 this morning. Plan to take 1 tomorrow and 1 the next day. I know I will experience some withdrawl symptoms what can I do? I started taking them everyday b/c I had the money to buy them all the time. I do not have the money now. My finacial situation has changed and I need to get of  of these. I do not want to lose what I have just to get high. But, I'm afraid, I have come to love the high. I want to get off them b/c I do not want to be a drug addict but I do not want to give up how they make me feel.

I slipped up. The pill I was saving for today I took it last night! So this morning, I have not a pill to take! I do not feel too bad. I feel anxious. I feel like my heart is beating hard in my chest.  Feel kinda weird. Feel like I need something to calm me down.

Remember your life as you knew it prior to taking that first pill. Remember this time b/c now if you don't stop that is all the happy memories your mind will have stored. Bottom line...... life is never the same. Monkey on your back seems to get heavier and heavier. It gets hungrier and needs to be fed opiates every 4 hours on the money! Ready for that life. go for it! Wish I was you and could just kick a lil old 3 pill a day addiction. Walk in the park to the rest of us. Watch the movie "Basketball Diaries" that stars Leonardo DiCaprio. Watch the way he portrays kicking a strong opiate addiction. That ought to scare you into sobriety. When I was in rehab, they made me watch it. Wish it would have affected me. I got released from the rehab, got in my car and popped another oxycontin. Never stopped really. Spent around 80-100,000 bux on drugs. Get out while the gettin is good hon. Prayers your way

Breaking addiction to pills has been impossible for me. I hope you have the strength to do it. I was clean for a month but thoughts of painkillers flooded my mind all day every day so I had to give in and now I am back on them. Get off of them while you are early into it. Or you will end up ODing like I did a little while back. I never went to the hospital which was the scariest part. You never want to look at yourself in the mirror and see yourself so close to death that you are on the bathroom floor praying you wake up. Please dont give in.

I did the same with the meth. One day I decided I did not want to do it anymore and I quit, just like that! This is not going to be as easy. I took one 10 mg. hydro this morning. I have one left for tomorrow. After that.........You are not being mean, do not worry about that. I need to hear what you and everyone else has to say. Don't sugarcoat anything! I will be honest, my neighbor gets their pills today. They will have 90 pills to sell and  it is right next door! My husband is a big help but he does not truly understand. Right now, it seems to be more of a mental thing to me. I think about the pills ALOT!

PLEASE for yourself quit now.  The w/d's will seem bad now , but they will most likely be mild and just imagine how they will be if you keep using?  It only gets worse.  Trust everyone on this board.  This stuff is not to be taken lightly.  We all found out the hard way.  Don't make that mistake.

u make me want to cry, bc there are so many ppl on this site, and in life, that are so faaar into their drug use that they really CANT just quit taking prescriptions. they have to go through detox and be hospitalized for months and months. and then when they finally get out, they have to completely rebuild their strength and sometimes don't even get their lives back. Opiate w/ds are HORRIBLE! Girl, i took methadone for a year 1/2 and it finally got to the point where I had to call my mother at age 20 to help me! When I was 17 i did meth for almost two years and i quit doing like THAT! Just decided one day that I didnt want to do it anymore and dropped it like a hat. i didnt think pain pills could hurt me....****, i made it through a meth addiction. I was WRONG. i lost so much bc of pain pills...

Please take our advice and save yourself! If you continue to take pain pills, u will hv to take more and more to even just feel normal....there's no high anymore...and i promise, you'll be in the same boat that most of the ppl on this site are in. Have you read sum of these forums?! you need to read some of these posts about opiates!

*gosh, i feel like im sounding mean.....im not trying to mean.*

Im here...keep posting. Good Luck!

If you are doing this because you want too - then you CAN do get clean.  I agree that you haven't been taking them super long and so probably have not gotten use to them to a point that you need more and more to make you feel them.  But, you will still go through withdrawals.  It will feel like a horrible flu - some people don't get that, but I did.  My addiction was Lortab.  If you end up going cold turkey - YOU CAN DO IT!  That's what I had to do - I wanted to taper off, but it didn't end up working that way.  Most addicts have a hard time tapering - some can though.  Anyway, I would just stop now while you have none left and use the stuff that Gizzy mentioned in his post!

We are here for you!  YOU CAN DO THIS and it's SO WORTH IT!

Hugs,
Janet

The drs. at the er. They worked, so I found them on my own. Hard at first, my mother in law had some, then the neighbor....... My reason for quitting is not just about the money. You are right, I would probably still be buying. I want to stop but it seems like I cannot say no. I don't want to be a drug addict!
I've done so far, so good, off the 2 I took this morning. But later.....?

I hope the reason your quitting isn't just about the money cause then your in some trouble. 3 months is not a long time to be using and you can stop now before it becomes 10 X harder. As you become immune, our tolerance builds and you will need more and more, but they will just make you feel worse and worse and that nice high changes. Maybe you could stop right now and get it over with? If you look in the top right under health pages you will see the thomas recipe, that can help with your w/d's. Please believe us, you don't want to continue this, stop now before it's too late. Good luck and keep posting.

please! quit while u can. u havent been taking them for long. of course u love the high...who doesnt like the high?! its down the road that u realize ur not high anymore...ur fighting for ur life. it doesnt seem to me that your dose is high enough to have to taper. my best advise to you is to just quit! cold turkey! since uve already started tapering, u shouldnt have bad w/ds.

*i dnt mean to sound harsh* if u nd me, im here!
