oxicontin

I've been taking between 60 and 90mg of oxycontin per day for the past 9 days in a row.  I want to quit before it starts to get out of control. I plan to quit tomorrow "cold turkey" can I expect to experience withdraws? If so how bad? And, is quitting cold turkey at this point a bad idea?

If you are taking 60mg and 90 my oxycontinin your habit is "out of control".

You can quite cold turkey with that daily dose and not experience anything that would be considered life-threatening. It nwill be a bit rough. Take some time off from work.  Lots of aches, pains, fatigue and you will have trouble thinking about anything but getting another pill.

As IBK asked were you tking the oxy for pain or recreation? How did you  take the oxys did you swallow them, snort, chew them or how did you do them? It makes a difference on how you brought them into your body as to how much w/d symptoms you will feel. Please let us know so we can help you through this.

Hi & Welcome,

You have not been taking them for long, relatively speaking, and if you do not have a history of drug abuse I will guess that you should not have much of a problem quitting. Good for you for stopping now before it gets out of hand.

If you were taking them for the high then you need to deal with the mental side of the withdrawal. If you were taking them for pain then you need to have a plan in place to deal with any pain you may have in the future.

If you give us a bit more information we can make some suggestions. Stick around and you will find good support here. Best of luck.
