How many found they got sick alot after detox?

I was just posting on a post and it reminded me of my detox..wds for me were really a piece of cake..but the next few months to follow were very hard as i kept getting sick!  like 3 viruses in 2 months and then a wave of NO ENERGY that almost did me in...I was wondering if me being a nurse and around so many germs/or maybe having a stressful job/had anything to do with it or did others have this too?  I remember for a while I just did not even care if I lost my job..I was soooooo tired!

too hard for me to gauge that- yes I've had alot of colds since i quit but probably just because I caught them from my kids. ALthough now that i've been clean quite a long time, I dont catch as many colds from the kids or if i do, they usually are milder than i used to get them (but not always) SO yeah.......i can't gauge this, too many variables lol

well..yep it shore does!...maybe releasing all the toxins does it..but then the toxins are always there when we are using...maybe enemy's lortab theory..cough suppressanr so we never got sick...not gonna use to keep from being sick tho...oh well...doesnt seem like everyone had this problem...

Jacqui - what the heck is PERTUSSIS?  Sounds gross!!!

Everyone - Lung infections are so common after detox.  I guess that's why they have hydrocodone in that good cough syrup.  When taking painkillers, you don't get a cough or lung illness.  If like me....used for six years....can't even remember a cold!  Doesn't that suck?

I HAVENT BEEN SICK FOR 5 YRS. THATS THE WHOLE TIME I'VE BEEN ON THIS METHADONE. I DO THINK NOT BEING SICK FOR ME IS BECAUSE I'VE BEEN ON THIS. I REMEMBER ONE TIME THOUGH I WAS STARTING TO GET THE FLU. I MADE IT TO THE CLINIC AND HAD TO WAIT AN HOUR TIL THEY REOPENED AFTER LUNCH. I COULDNT EVEN WALK UP THE STAIRS THATS HOW SICK I WAS! BUT AFTER I DOSED IT TOTALLY WENT AWAY. I KNEW IT WAS THE FLU TOO. MAN DID I FEEL TERRIBLE THAT WHOLE MORNING!

I came down with a cold or flu everytime i stopped using. I had myself convinced at one point cocaine was making me healthier, lol. it's weird how so many get so sick after. This winter has been bad for me, but i also work in the cold so that does not help.

yey...i am not sure if the pills masked my symptoms but i was sick alot the first few months..i wonder if the detox process made me weak..or did i always get sick alot and didnt know it cos i was on pills..if i felt bad/just popped a pill?  just know it made it touch when i was newly clean..being sick all the time..EmergenC helped me alot when i figured out what was going on...i have been sick off and on for 3 months this go round...feelin better tho..lots of flu's this time of year i guess

I know for me I've been sick pretty much non-stop since the beginning of October and I stopped taking in September.  I see a correlation.  My doctor said it's because our immune systems become compromised for a little bit.  I know not everyone gets sick a lot after, but it seems to be a common theme on here.  I hope you start feeling better soon!  I'm hoping mine is almost done too!!!  :)

For me it was about the same . However I sure there were time the pain meds masked what ever problems I was having.

This happened to me , many times...When using I was not sick once..Then now it seems i stay sick...Mostly a cold that seems to go away, but come back shortly afer...Also, I had 2 virus, since i have been clean...Oh, and I had 2 UTI infections, and a kidney infection.. then my gallbladder....
Maybe all of this stuff i did have while using, but the massive amounts of tylenol just masked it...idk, but always found this to be weird...
Like you , I have also had times that i had no evergy at all, and had to force myself to do things...I am thinking about getting back on all the vitamins etc, since i have stopped those....Hope you get better soon!!!

Well I'm sick now with a head cold and a cough.. It has been a very long time that I have been sick.. It has been over 3 months and I had to take a restful leg two nights in a row as rls has made a return visit... Nowhere hear as bad as wd but irritating.. Still having to force myself out and about but it does seem to be getting easier.. Just my 2 cents :)

Oh yeah, I got Pertussis!!!  I was sick SO long!  I DID read that it is quite common after detoxing, to have respiratory tract infections....who knew!

hello worried.....i didn t really get sick but my nose was forever running and i kept sneezing for about a month...but no real sickness.  i hear ya on the energy thing...i never thought i d get it back...took a real long time and i m still a little lagging in energy.  and sleeping was a big issue too.  it could have been your job or maybe your resistance was down therefore making you get sick.. i think R2R had this happen to her too.  i remember reading it...take care now...maria
