audrey, you can do this.  it is not easy, but if you prepare yourself and your schedule as well as your quit date you CAN DO IT.  take it one day at a time...check out the thomas recipe and the amino protocol...be prepared.  remember knowledge is power.  so educate yourself and get started.  we are here for support.

Oh, one more thing that helps ---- Cut off your supply.  I had to go and tell my doctor what I was doing -- it was like burning the bridge back to my drugs but it really shows you are serious and not just thinking about doing it.  All the best

Hi Audreylady ---  You can do this using the Percs but you need to set the schedule and stick to it --  As long as you have some help, you can be successful----  The person who is helping you must be strong enough to tell you "NO" if you do want to cheat - even a little.  When you get near the end of the taper be sure you have The Thomas Recipe and a little time to recuperate -----  Just know that there is NO painless way to get off of Opiates --- there will be some suffering involved but it is very doable and one of the best things I have done for myself and my family.  You can set your own taper schedule but don't make it to tight or too loose --  come down as slowly as you need but stick to your schedule.  Soon you will be posting on here another success story.  And please do that -- there are many who need the encouragement they receive from reading these successes.  All the best.

Good luck to you Audrey ---  Yes, it is doable -- just rather tough at times.  It is good to let someone else hold and dispense your pills too --- Actually Percocet is a stronger drug than Hydrocodone so if you have that it would be better to WD from.  The main thing is to set a schedule and a 'quit date' is very important.  You can do this -- I started my taper using Hydrocodone after being on Percs for quite a while but then became impatient and switched to Suboxone -- what a mistake that was as I then had horrible W/D's from the Sub for 2 months.  Stay strong and please continue to post on here.  All the best.

You can taper or cold turkey. If you think your strong enough to taper then that's great! It is very hard & takes ALOT of will power! Do you have someone close to you that can give you the pills, so that you won't be able to take more? Good Luck!
