Heliman, you need to taper off of the sub. If you quit cold turkey..you WILL feel withdrawal. You need a plan....
Clarification: The above comment should read , "I understand that 30 HOURS"......
I have been on Suboxone for 2 years. I take a low dose, 8 to 16 mg per day. I have no cravings. But Suboxone gives me night sweats. I have tried to get off, but it is not easy. If I take 4 mgs (1/2 pill) I am OK, but go through mild withdrawels. I want to get off. So I plan to just stop taking the pills. I undertstand that 30 is what it takes to get out of your system. However, I have felt baldy for 5 and 6 days while trying to quit before. George3
I truely hope the suboxone helps you. I was also afraid to try it because some people said it was even harder withdrawl than the pain killers. (Couldn't imagine that!) But it does sound like it at least gets things under control. That will probally give you a break and let you relax and think about everything better. Wish you well in your journey.
I use suboxone and plan to be on it. I tried Methadone, but found that the more I took the higher I got. Suboxone does not have that potential. For me, a one day dose that allows me to function and not crave is probably about as normal as my life can get at this point in time.
It also blocks other meds, so you can't get high. I am with you though that most people don't use it to detox off of their DOC, like IBKleen.
You are the first person I have heard of getting off the Suboxone and it worked. Maybe most are abusing the suboxone? or their doctor isn't very good at it yet? Anyway, you must be estatic about it!! Congrats!! and Merry Christmas!!
It's my understanding that suboxone is an opiate. and if you take it long enough, yes you can get addicted and have to go through withdrawl.
I was considering that route, but when I tried to find people that did the suboxone--everyone was still on it!! Nobody ever gets off. They all raved about it. But I figured it was because they were still feeding the habit.
Yes, Suboxone is an opiate.
I used Sub, short term, to detox off of pain meds. I was given my first dose by my doctor and found that it needed to be adjusted (down). After the first three days of getting the dose correct, I began to taper off. I went for 16 days and stopped. I did not feel any physical withdrawal from either the pain meds, or the Suboxone.
Good Luck.
