Pregnant, Safe Way To Wean Tramadol

I have been off and on Tramadol for the past three years. I have been taking it consecutively for 6 months. I was unaware of the "non-habit forming" effects when i lost my script on a weekend and ended up in the emergency room. I have chronic back and leg pain my doctor put me on cymbalta and tramadol. It seems i may have a mild form of fibromyalgia. The withdrawl symtoms for me are unbearable. The past 3-4 months there were periods of time where im not sure how many mgs i was taking a day because i would forget if i took a dose. I know i went thru a bottle of 180 in 12 days very scary, and disturbing. My finace has helped me with a homemade pill box. Im now and for the past month been on 100-200mgs a day. I just found out im 5 weeks pregnant. Can i still take them at lower doses thru pregnacy? If not, whats the safest way to wean?

Tell your OBGYN asap they will help you wean all of the way off of them .I would get off them and stay off them .I am surprised they put you on both cymbalta and tramadol because tram works as an ssri antidepressant as well as a pain reliever  . There are seizure risks with tram so I am glad you have gone slow keep it up and talk to your doctor .

You need to seriously talk to your OB .. the first trimester is very important and he/she can let you know what is safe for the baby
