what to do....

heyy! im really glad i found this place. ive read a few stories and many of them i can relate to. wellllll i just graduated from high school. about two years ago i started using rox 30. i have been to one detox center so far. whenever my parents found out. honestly it wasnt by choice. and i was under 18 at the time so i had to go. i feel as if im living two lives. on the outside everyone sees me as this great successful person who is going to college and cheerleading for that college. but on the inside i have a serious addiction problem. i take more than 8 rox 30 a day and more if i have the money. i really want to stop but am scared of the withdrawals becuz of the pain. my nose starts running even if i dont take one after and two hours. i feel terrible inside becuz im lieing to everyone around me. i spent all my college money so far on them....... is there anyway to calm down my withdrawal sysptoms so i can move on with my life :(

Hi and welcome,

The good news is you are still so young.  Very few people realize they have a problem at your age.  You only need to read a few posts here to see people (like me) who let their addictions go on for years and years before realizing they have a problem.

The bad news is your use has already grown to a fairly large level.  Your use will not decrease until you stop, it will keep growing.  You are running out of time to get this figured out.

Since you've been to detox, you know what this entails.  You need to want this bad and you need to get all the support you can to get clean.  Why don't you tell your parents again and ask for their help?  As a parent, there is nothing I wouldn't do to help one of my children were they faced with your similar situation.

Everyone here will help you as well but I can't stress enough that you need to act now, you have your whole life ahead of you but that life won't be pretty if you continue on the road you are on.

Please get help now and stick around here for encouragement,
Godspeed,

bob

Well i wish there was a easy answer to your question or rather a easy way out of the opiate hell u feel stuck in. I was addicted to oxy, I'm only in day 8 of my sobrity. The people on here are extremly supportive and  will make you feel like they are holding your hand. Although we can't make u want to change your life but they will inspirer u to want it! The success storys on here, and the just knowing i'm not alone helps me. Theres different methods used to quit and if you read old post you will find a few. I know i quit cold turkey and the withdrawals were bad i'm not gonna lie. Although by day 4 most physical w/d were gone. The worst part for me is the insomnia that comes with quiting. You just have to put the same effort u put in to using as in to quiting. There is a tapering method  that you can read about, but from what i have read it is a long process, but less painful. Wow you are so young and by the sounds of it intelligent. I'm only replying to your post to give my support to you that you can and will get your life back if you continue to read and trust in the help that the vets on here will offer you. Please remember that no one on here is a doctor but they are better then one to me cause they have felt your pain and have been in your shoes. I would advise you not to take any other kind of prescribed meds to get through your w/d because pills like amdien and xax, are very addictive and you would be replacing one habit for another. Just my opionion. I quit cold turkey, because i know that i would abuse the meds that are sometimes used to aid in quiting. Like i said before there are many people on here that can advise you and offer you helpful suggestions, but the bottom line is that it is your choice to take it and run with it. I know you can do it, you have already proven that you are a committed young woman by comitting to college. I wish you the best of luck and will keep you in my thoughts. Keep posting that is a great help to move forward. Like i said i replied cause i can very much relate to the leading double lives thing, for no one in my family knows about my addiction. They say secrets will kill us and enable our problems but like you mine can not be told to family. I hope you will get some comfort in knowing that i can feel your pain and relate. Sorry i couldn't be more help medically..... Remember that you have your whole life ahead of you, and you just took your first step forward by reaching out here.  GOOD LUCK KIDDO!!!

Hey my brother, your story is quite like mine! I was addicted to speed for 10 years and stopped cold turkey ever since then I haven't touched a thing until I met the little blue devil oxycodone 30! I get a script for 120 and I eat them and snort them like they are going out of style! I looked at myself in the mirror yesterday morning and did not like I was seeing so I took my last two pills and like everyone said the hellacious withdrawals started I was trying to think where I could score more, then I thought WTF that is the craving talking!!! Read some of the other posts it will give u tips good luck! Let me know how it is going

A cheerleader with a bad habit? Umm. Ok girl. There is no easy way out. You need about a week of space that you can go MIA to get thru the worst of this. I'm on day 5 right now from an intake of 300mg to 400mg daily dose there when I got fed up last week. Laurel has given you some great advice. Mentally prepare yourself, get strong, and get it done..ok?

Hi welcome to the forum 2lives

you still have 2 lives but with time the life of active addiction takes over the "other" and it is a hell so congrats for taking the decision of quitting ..

there are some advices you can find on the health pages, read the thomas recipe and the amino acid protocol, take what it may help you and leave the rest.

the thing about your nose running is quite common, when detoxing you will go through a lot of sneezing too, it's part of the process..

Do not get discouraged, it is doable and you can do it !! :) trust me, you can do it but this is a mental battle mostly so be positive that you can do it, it is tough after the physicals wds are gone you will still have the mental battle, if you ask for help and go to the root of your addictive behaviour, your chances will increase.... na meetings, therapy, addiction counselling... whatever it may work for you..but i'd really want you  to realise that staying clean is much more difficult than getting clean.... work hard on your recovery and then, you can move on with your life, sure :)

ok, i gonna paste a list of stuff you could get to help you with wds.

immodium ( diarrhea )

advil

a good vitamin complex and a good B's ..

some magnesium chelated+calcium supplements... to help you with muscle cramps and aches

potassium rich food... apple/orange juice  , bananas, spinach, raisins, nutcrackers..

a good chicken soup, tomato soup, eat as healthy as possible ...some protein shakes.

this is very important, .....drink a lot of fluids to keep you hydrated ... gatorades, green tea, tonic water ( it has quinine and it will help you with RLS )

Hylands restful legs to help you with RLS

maybe some natural stuff to help you with sleep like melatonin and valerian root ( good for anxiety too).

lots of hot baths ( with epsom salts if you have them ...)

start with walks and some light exercise as soon as you can to boost your endorphines, enjoy the sun ...

stay here posting and telling us how are you doing , ok ?

best of luck !!!!! :)
