I have no idea why she would hide it. Ask her. She should be under a Dr's care with it.

Hello, My fiancee was on this for about a week from DR orders.  They were supposed to help with depression but DID NOT!  and she hated them. They made her groggy(to say the least) and then the next day she was like a zombie, and it had alot of other little bad side affects as well..

Ask her if she is getting them from the DR, and even ask her why is she hiding them.. How did you find out she was hiding them?  Also, ask her if she is taking the right amount, or if she is taking more to try to feel better..  PLease keep us posted so that we can do whatever to help if we can..

I took Amitriptyline for a year or so after my divorce..It helped me sleep and I was able to work...It is also prescribed for chronic back pain which is why I take it a times now...can make you droggy in the morning til you adjust but all in all is a safe drug

its a different kind of anti depressant than the more common ones used today like Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil etc.   The Amitryptilline is a tricyclic one and generally improves sleeping patterns. I used to use it for awhile but i need an SRRI type alot worse and that is what helps me.

It is also used to prevent migraines and to help with ulcerative colitis
