Is This Addisons? I Feel Horrible Help!!!

So I have had medical problems on and off for about a year and a half. Last year I felt "off" just off balance and had a lot of nausea. So I went from Dr to Dr. The Neuro scanned, the GI did an upper GI, The OBGYN pap smeared the GP checked my eyes and ears - then I hit the Dermo who ran a whole bunch of tests. What came back flagged were my low vitamin d, biotin, high hpylori and high DHEA at 507.

He put me on Spirolacatone which i felt a little more off taking and finally stopped. Then my issues got better on their own and just kind of deminished.

Then a month ago it hit like a truck I woke up one day and BAM i was so dizzy i could hardly make it to the kitchen. I was so tired I could fall asleep on the train for hours if i let myself. It was awful. So then i went to the dr (lost my insurance so now a clinic) and my thyroid was good, cardiogram fine, no anemia but blood sugar though normal in the office came back from the lab a 35!

they wouldn't follow up for a month so I went to a new dr he did a meter in office and bg was 117 ???? and I'm waiting on the blood work. I feel like I'm dying- I feel like I can hardly do one small thing a day without burning out. I can hardly make it through a shower at times. I'm 25 and I feel like I'm 80- like I've been poisoned slowly. From what I've seen online I feel this maybe Addisons disease- does that sound logical?

Hi, I'm not sure but I think I may be suffering from adrenal insufficiency.  I'm a 24 year old man and I was fine up until about mid Feb this year, then I hit the wall hard.  I had been a very active guy, working, in final year of college and had a rather challenging workout routine.  I at first felt sluggish and unable to sleep well or for more than a couple hours.  Then, March 7th my heart raced in the middle (3am) of the night and I knew that I had something really wrong.  I attempted to ascertain a cause by searching the internet but my blood pressure was so low that I could hardly move and I passed out at my desk and fell to the floor.  I woke about one minute or so later, concerned, and immediately called my mother, whom is a veterinarian, and before I could explain the whole situation again, I passed out again this time collapsing on my coffee table and injuring my leg slightly.  My roommate carted me over to a local hospital where every test came back normal except for my d-dimers which were elevated due to the workout I had done earlier the last day.  After that, I saw my regular doctor whom believed I was suffering an acute case of adrenal fatigue.  It has been about 7 months since then and I've done the usual adrenal rounds, except for actually replacing my adrenal hormones. Things have gotten better since March but I am still dealing with symptoms that can really slow my life down.  I still can't lift weights, I only do a bit of low impact aerobic exercise.  I eat right and at the right times but I still can't get a normal sleep schedule going and my liver is slightly tender and I have to force my self to eat at certain times to make sure that I get enough food in to help ensure I get a descent nights sleep, a rare occurance.  I do know from lab tests that my liver is not 100% normal.  I have gilbert's syndrome but I have not suffered any effects besides a year-round tan my whole life.  I'm wondering if my condition may have roots in this under-lying illness.  Is there anyone else who better knows the interactions between adrenals, pituitary, liver and thyroid interaction?  I can give pretty good details if you need them, I have recorded most of my conditions along with diet, and supplements.

Hi - Maybe you can help me out..........I have been reading these emails...getting
ready to finally go to an endo  - mostly I thought my problems started with a super
stressful divorce last year and really crashed out after surgery 4/29/09.  Was a very
active person exercise, walk a 16 min mile, etc.  Terrible fatigue, muscle pains,
and interestly enough lower T3 scores, but TSH and T4free are normal.  Depression
and anxiety also.  Put on Ativan and low dose Prozac.  One MD gave me 50 MCGS
of levothyroxine and after 2/12 weeks I changed MD due to staff and communication.
New MD took me off of thryoxine hands were shaking.  So now all they want to do
is put me on another anti-D effecxor.  I usually go to the thyroid site but maybe
you can help me out.   Have not been tested for adrenal, cortisol or other stuff.
T3 levels were 200   range 230-420  and last one 2.1   range 2.3-4.2 they were are
flagged with a L and out of range on the lab work.  also I noticed by LDL was more
elevated and glucose slightly also.  thanks alot, All I am is fibro diagnosis so far.

Hi, 500 isn't horrible :( but maybe they are trying to make sure you don't have this very common 'invisible' infection going on. 3.8 (thousand) to 10.8 (thousand) is high.I sure hope they do a comprehensive blood test on you soon!

Well I retested my blood with a new doctor and blood work up was all normal. CBC, glucose, liver, thyroid etc. BUT i was so ill after I moved and went to a horrible clinic that wanted to run all sorts of stuff I decided to just go with a urine test. My WBC was 500 is that horrible? He said it was probably a UTI that spread to the kidneys and gave me an antibiotic. Sound right?

Aloha,
Have any of the MDs performed a morning cortisol check? I didn't see that in your notes. I have severe symptoms of low adrenal function with cortisol consistently below 4 no matter what time of day it is x many months now. I am or was also a nurse when I used to be able to get out of bed and get dressed. Right now I am too sick to do much of anything and tests are being done - scans like MRIs CT scans, etc. We are looking for a mass. Anyway, the symptoms you are describing need medical attention right away. Do you have access to community health clinics? They are sometimes less expensive or go by a 'sliding scale' of your income. If I understand your notes, your blood sugar at one time came back at 35? They should have given you IV glucose right into your veins. That is hypoglycemia and is more scary than hyperglycemia - it can be a life threatening emergency. Whether or not you are thinking about Addison's, your blood sugar needs to be controlled and not let slide down that low! Please keep trying to explain your symptoms to doctors. You may want to do what I do - keep a diary of what you eat/meds you take and what happens after that, what you do to try and correct the symptoms, and how it turns out. This gives the doctors a better picture of what is happening.
Please take care,
Aloha,

I just feel like I cant function anymore. It's so horrible. There are times where I cant tell if this is an emergency or if I should just fight through it. The DR said he is running a ton of blood work so I have a feeling he will test my adrenals. I'm hoping this is just a cortisol issue, he prescribes HC and i'm better enough to start my new job Sept 1st. I dont need to be cured just well enough to function. ):

well it could I suppose if your looking at the worst. Fact is, so many things could be out of whack right now and no one is got a handle on it. Plus your cash flow is hindered - so that makes it tough too.

If you want to eliminate the possible issue of adrenal diorders - get a saliva test on your own and do it. It cost about 150 buck - but in the long run it will save you hundreds than running from doctor to doctor. ZRT labs online can send you one.

Stress is linked to adrenal exhaustion. If your high stressed you can have fatigue. If you fatigued long enough other hormones - thyroid - estrodiol - progesterone - cortisol - seritionin will whack out too.
