hello and welcome. sounds like me when i was 21. i had been under the influence of something pretty much every day since the beginning of high school and within 6 years was in my first rehab. i had also been told by those around me that i had a problem. but being the stubborn alcoholic i am, it took many more rehabs and years of progressive misery to begin to do what i was suggested to do the first time around. my sober days on this earth have been a result of practicing things i've learned through aa and finding out how bad things can get when i try to do it alone. if you haven't checked out aa, give it a shot--it's the closest thing there is to a "cure." i've also been on campral over a year now and it does seem to make a difference. the cravings do get less disturbing, especially when i keep myself away from people and places i associate with drinking (and other chemicals). it hasn't been easy as i spent a lot of my twenties playing music and pretty much lived in a party environment. but it can be done, and there is life without getting wasted---it just takes a little while and a lot of willingness. congrads on your successes so far and whatever happens, don't stop trying---it gets better. gm
Welcome, It does get easier. You have 16 days now and one day at a time you will have another and another.
The most I could get together was 10 days for years. The cravings I had I thought were the most difficult cravings anyone could have.
Someone once told me "don't give up, you never know, there may be a miracle around the next corner you turn".
I heard one other thing that kept me from drinking from a guy in AA. He simply said "A drink is not an option".
They do get easier over time......having a good diet...high protein..lean meats fresh fruits vegetables will help...excessive caffeine and sweets may aggravate even tho we alcholics/addicts have to have some...and Campral a RX pill helps with cravings if u r faithful and take it 2-3 times a day...i've seen it work wonders with those who practice a recovery program.
