My doctor prescribed escitalopram 5mg generic for

Lexapro for my anxiouty and depression.Side effects include diarrhea, sleep, loss of appetite and slight headache.Man i tell you,i had everyone of them!! It was horrible as if i were poisoned.Has anyone ever taken these? Also when i tell her about this she'll probably discontinue the use,if not i am and DON'T plan on taking another. What else is there as far as medicines for this? I know there are several but in general which do they usually prescribe? Thanks.

The side effects that you describe are common for all antidepressants, and unfortunately, Lexapro is one of them that is generally known to have the least amount of side effects.  I have a very hard time with these drugs, and it by far has been the best for me.  However, these drugs work differently for every person.  There is not one specific drug that doctors prescribe, it's usually trial and error.  If you haven't given Lexapro a full six weeks, though, I would recommend trying to stick it out.  I went through hell when I first went on an SSRI, until I just gave it enough time so that the side effects disappeared.  Usually they go away completely after about three weeks of your final dosage increase.

I am mentally ill and functioning with medication and trust me when I say you need to see a psychiatrist as soon as possible.
