im also taking zoloft and have sleep problems,. i been taking xanax at night to fall asleep
Zoloft caused me to have insomnia. It was a bit too stimulating. It may be causing some problems for you, too.
Sleep's something you either can or cannot do easily. My guess is that almost everyone suffers from insomnia at some time, but the only 'cure' I know of is to just accept that you are one of those that's not going to cure your sleep problem until you learn that you have to accept it. Not very useful perhaps, but since I 'forgot' about insomnia I've learned to cope well with life in general.Meds galore didn't help, but somehow you'll find a way too. Avoid 'alternative' remedies, unless they've been validated by a competent medical authority you could do yourself some harm if you go that route. Talk it over with a Dr/Psych that you feel you can trust. Good luck!`
Do things that are relaxing before going to bed. Fall asleep while reading or watching TV, laying there with nothing to do but "think" will just lead to anxiety making it more difficult to fall asleep. Don't take any over the counter medications (even natural) without consulting with your doctor, they can interact with your medication. If nothing seems to help, be sure to call your doctor and let him know the problem you're having, he may suggest an anxiety med to take at night to help you relax enough to fall asleep. I hope this helps and best wishes.
There is an over the counter sleep aid called Unisom that has no other medicine in it which helps a lot with sleep. Also try an all natural sleep aid called Melatonin
