Is it really anxiety? Im begining to think it's something else.

Hi. My name is Michelle and I'm an 18 year old female who has been showing symptoms of anxiety for about a year now. I first became aware that there was something wrong last year. It was a couple days after me and my little brother decided to take Benadryl as a recreational drug. We though we were invincible, as most teenagers do, and I took 18, my brother double that. We were fine until after about fifteen minutes and the drugs turned on us. My little brother was walking and mumbling to himself, but he was unresponsive and I thought he was going to die. He ended up going to the hospital and waking up the next day not remembering the night before and he didn't have any side effects besides soreness. I, however, felt distanced from reality. I felt as though i was on autopilot and was constantly crying and eating because they seemed to be the only things I could control. My body would jerk out of sleep and my limbs would feel numb as well as many other symptoms.I don't remember the next few months after that clearly because I got little sleep and was severely depressed. I started finding different people to talk to besides my current friends because they got aggravated when I would constantly talk about how I felt and got in touch with my childhood friend, who I am currently dating. A few of my symptoms are gone but I occasionally experience them again in full force. I can't cope with the sickness, stress, or pain in my family and i freak out. I've been to many doctors and specialists and they said i was fine. I'm wondering if other people are experiencing the same symptoms, or if I am just going through hell because of my past mistakes. I need help soon because I need to help support both the relationship with my boyfriend and my family with a job.I feel as though this is impossible as of right now. Any feedback would be great!
                                                                                                 Thank you-Michelle
p.s.:sorry for the length of the question.

Hey, I just want to let you know that it is very possible and likely that you are dealing with anxiety. Of course, you should continue to follow up with your doctor. But if He/she is telling you that you are fine you should trust them!
For example, I have experienced episodes of extreme anxiety, and depression in the past, and am just getting through one now. So Anxiety can cause real physical symptoms and they can last for years even, but you can still get better. It sounds like you feel a lot of pressure, to keep your bf and work to support your family. Maybe a counselor would help you get through this? Are you seeing one?
One of my episodes of extreme anxiety was caused by a really bad panic attack from recreational drugs which lasted for months! So recreational drugs can cause bad ongoing anxiety. But I got better, after many months. It isn't unusual for anxiety to last for more than a month though, and people get better.
Please feel free to ask if you have any questions, you can send me a message on my profile page, that way I'll be sure to get it.
When's the last time you saw a doctor and what did they say?

I have to second that. Going about asking people about this will never give you a difinate answer. Insist to your doctor that you don't feel fine and that you are wondering if this could be because of your pass experience or if it is just anxiety. Talk about your symptomes and your consern over them. INsist that how I finally got answers,

I can only suggest you get back with your doctor to discuss these lingering effects, which may or may not be from the OD of Benadryl. I am not qualified to tell you if that medication could have done permanent damage or if the experience has caused you to become anxious. Only your doctor can rule anything in or out.
I wish you the best.
Peace
