Now what can I do?

THis anxiety has had me most of my life (40+ years).  It is fear that causes me to procrastinate, and it is fear that gets done at the last minute what I had put off.  Both Psych counselors and the Basset approach hae tried to get me to unfold layers of "Stinking Thinking" (as Ziz Ziglar puts it) but to little avail.  So I have thought about subliminal messaging or hypnotherapy (bought on-line) to get me to the conscious work.

What do you think?   Please help

It's my humble opinion that you just haven't hit on the right therapy, or combination of therapies yet. There are so many options available to us, if one approach doesn't work, we have others to turn to. For some of us, we must try for years until we finally "get it right."
You say you've seen a "psych counselor," may I ask what type of therapy this was? Have you tried medication along with therapy? Again, for many of us, this has proven to be the best approach.
There is much debate about the Basset approach and I feel my personal opinion of her program is irrelevant. Apparently you didn't find it very helpful. I have no idea who this Ziz Ziglar is or their theory of "Stinking Thinking," but again, I gather that wasn't of much help either.
As for "subliminal messaging," I have absolutely no opinion. Well, actually I do. If we are talking about the same thing. I once bought a subliminal tape to help me quit smoking which I would put under my pillow each night when I went to bed. After a week of sitting on the side of my bed, smoking endless cigarettes because the damn tape kept me awake, it got the boot, but I am not saying it hasn't worked for some and may work for you. It certainly won't harm you, so give it a shot.
Hypnotherapy is another rather dicey subject. It seems there are two distinct camps regarding it. One swears by it and the other swears "at" it. I think it's a highly personal decision based on your beliefs. For myself, if I was going to consider hypnotherapy, I would want to be in the hands of a very qualified professional. But I have to plead ignorance on "self-hypnosis."
I don't think it can harm you, so once again I say go ahead and give it a go. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Your last question.........."what do I think?" I think you should look for a highly recommended psychiatrist and put yourself in his/her hands. I don't promise you anything..........you asked what I thought, I told you.
I wish you the peace you have been seeking for 40 years.
