Point me in a direction besides anxiety

I am 36 years old and have had several misunderstood health issues.  I have chronic depression and am taking medication for this and feel that I am mentally healthy at this point.  The symptoms which are alluding me now are severe cases of vertigo in with numbness of my tongue and lips proceeding and lasting the duration of the severe vertigo, loss of control of faculties, vomiting and migraine, my lips and tongue being numb also follows for a few hours (this whole process lasts 3-12 hours.  Was in the hospital 2 times and admitted once.  At ti me of ENT arrival all vitals were fine but I could not control my faculties it was like they were so tired or paralyzed, don't know.  Extreme drowsiness at time of admittance.  These type of occurrences are progressing in frequency.  3 weeks apart then 1 week apart now tongue feeling numb again and so does my face on and off  and it has been numb all day (It has only been 3 days since the last occurrence).  I am very anxious about these symptoms there is no doubt, I cannot take care of my son while I am so sick, but my family is dismissing this to anxiety and so is my counselor so I am trying to relax but am concerned that this terrible experience is looming at the door.  How can I keep this from happening if it is just anxiety.

Will someone please let me know what they think this could be and how I can keep it from happening.  In particular does this sound like anxiety - I know that I am anxious about it now - but should I assume that is all it is and how do I deal with it?

Thanks,
Tasha

well i truly hate to say this, but i think you do have reason to be concerned. the reason i hate to say that to you is that it could very well be just anxiety and i know that if it's only anxiety, the fact that someone tells you that you might have reason to worry will indeed make you worry even more. i'm sorry for that. but i do think it's worth having all the test done. anxiety can really do some very disturbing things to our bodies and make us feel extremely uncomfortable...but the symptoms you describe aren't like the ones you normally see. it's certainly possible...but i would want to really have it checked out based on what you've said here. i really hope that doesn't worry you. after all...i'm no doctor by any means. i'm just a regular person...but i do know that it would concern me.

one thing to keep in mind is that if all your vitals are fine, then that's a very good sign. that probably exculdes a few things. having said all that, if it turns out it is simply anxiety...then the best thing to do is let it happen. let it become part of you. accept it and let it happen. don't be affraid of it anymore. doing this is the only way to reduce the panic level that is causing it to continue. even by doing this...it may still take days or weeks to feel 'normal' again...but thats the only thing that helps with the physical symptoms as far as i know. share all your concerns and details with your doctor(s) because they're the ones who can really tell you if it's anxiety or not. best of luck to you with this.

perhaps someone else here may have better insight than myself. hopefully anyone who's experienced your symptoms will respond to your post and explain their own experiences. i'm sure that would be far more helpful than anything i said.

What medication are you on, how long have you been on it, and is there any connection between the timing of going on it and these symptoms?  Also, most of what you describe could be vascular in nature; migraines are vascular headaches, caused by the constriction of blood vessels followed by their expansion.  There are ways of easing this, including biofeedback and natural remedies, but generally, migraines often follow upon the easing of a period of high stress.  Might be a route of investigation, if you haven't already done so.  Good luck.
