i don't remember having dreams while on lexapro, i just remember it working very well. right now i am on cymbolta, it seems to work well if i take it every other day. i know while on cymbolta i do not dream at all. but if i take it in the morning i am very sleepy. the doc told me though that some meds work and some don't it just depends on your system. maybe you should take it in the morning if you are taking it at night or vice versa. also my aunt takes lexapro every other day and it works great for her....she is FULL of energy!!!
Good Luck,
kalie
Lexapro is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression or anxiety.
Lexapro is used to treat anxiety and major depressive disorder.
As with any anti-depressant side effects are common and vary from individual to individual.
Your dreaming is quite probably a side effect of the Lexapro but is not serious unless it is disrupting your sleep ar the dreams are disturbing in and of themselves.
Your lack of motivation is a common sign of your depressive disorder itself and is probably not a result of your medication unless it is only in the morning and dissipates as the day progresses.
The addition of Klonpin to your medications will probably add to your morning fatigue, but usually goes away afteer a week or two of taking the medication. It's just a matter of your body adapting to it.
If any of these side effects are overly bothersome, you should consult with your mental health provider for alternative solutions.
And, as I said, many side effects disappear after the medication reaches its' peak plasma level in your system.
If the benefits outweigh the side effects I would try continuing the medication for awhile to see what happens.
I hope these issues resolve themselves and that you feel better soon. Good luck to you and please let us know how you are doing.
Michael
Thank you both for your comments.
I spoke with my Doctor and he is taking me down from 10mg of Lexapro to 7.5mg to see if this might help some with the fatigue. I have been on this dosage since November and it just may be a bit to much.
Would you happen to know if I will experience any side effects? I know that this is not much of a switch but he recommends slowing reducing rather that simply cutting the dosage in half.
Thanks
I suggest you try to reduce Lexapro even to 5 mg and see the effect in 3 weeks to month. Quite possible you brain is getting excessive Serotonin than required. Also see if you can take .5 mg Klonopin.
