Unsolved diagnosis

by karebel, Sep 14, 2009 07:31PM
My friend has been to the doctor several times and she has shaking and pain panic attacks more like when she gets upset and often faints and stops breathing for under a minute and then wakes up. The doctors told her they dont understand it. Her body is attacking itself and they have given her an estimate on how long to live several times and her chances increase with time bc she has learned to control her emotions. Her emotions seem to set it off every time. They gave her some kind of shot to control everything they think that will stop it like an antivenom. any ideas on what that would be? What she has?

Did the doctors say that this could be purely from panic attacks?  Has she had anxiety issues in the past?  Does she get therapy for her panic attacks?  Sorry to ask so many questions, but panic can really be scary, confusing, and can cause all sorts of symptoms.

You might want to ask Dr. Gould on the mental health forum for this one.  It could be hyperventilation from panic attacks, but that usually doesn't proceed to blacking out.  You say her body is attacking her; what do you mean?  If it's her emotions and they're that bad, why isn't she in therapy and on medication?  Dr. Gould will need that kind of info if he's to give an informed opinion.
