Zoloft advice please?!

Hi there. For the past 6 months I have suffered with health anxiety. I'm currently med free, but I have had enough of this unwanted weight ( not suicidal!) so I went to the docs to see what options were open to me. The doctor but me down on the waiting list for therapy which Im happy about but he told me the waiting list was very long! :-/ so I also spoke to him about me and my partner are expecting our 2nd baby any day now and that I could do with some kind of help now because the last thing I want is to feel like this when I have a crying baby and sleep deprived! Without anxiety this wouldn't even be an issue because I have a 4 yr old! So he wants to put me on 50mg Zoloft a day! I'm not bad as what I was say 3 months ago and have no problems getting up for work etc! I just don't want to relay on meds if you no what I mean! Anyone else have advice? Thank u

I don't know anything about Zoloft, so you should consult your pharmacist or doctor to find its effects.

You aren't really relying on meds, as they just HELP you get back to normal, by giving you a break from the anxiety while you do your part by learning techniques to refocus your mind. If they work as planned that is, which for me happened 4 years ago and I was able to get my anxiety completely out of my mind. The med, Celexa, just removed the veil of anxiety and depression that would come out of nowhere and ruin my day, sometimes for hours on end. My doc told me in advance that I had fogotten how to be happy, and needed the med for that. He was right.

I wanted to go off them after a month but my doc said 6 mo is the recommended minimum, so I stayed on but didn't take any since. These meds are not addictive, so you are free to drop them when you feel fine again, although I caution you to never do it without medical advice.
