Derealization from Prozac 10mg

Okay so I was on Prozac for 8 years and it worked wonders for my Anxiety. I was living a very normal life. Then I decided to try something else to help with my depression. I tried Lexapro and then Effexor. All in a months time. When I started the Effexor I got major anxiety back. I also just started minocycline for a skin condition. So I went back on Prozac 40mg. Well I started going through Derealization. It was horrible. My physician still believes it was teh minocycline but now I mpetrified of medication. I just started Prozac 2 weeks ago. I started at 5mg for teh first week and just went up to 10 3 days ago. Yesterday I started feeling spacey and out of it. I panicked and started thinking that I was going through what I went through a few months ago. Its definitely my biggest fear and Im not sure whether Im thinking myself into it or not. Should I stop the medication??
Again Ive only been on it for 2 weeks and only on 10mg for 3 days. Please help!

Hi there you must have had somthing else going on in your live to want to try somthing else when you were so well on the prozac, dont stop the meds till you have spoken to your doc but if it was me and I felt well on one drug I would stay put.

antibiotics can cause derealization. but so can prozac. give it time and see.

Realize that most of these anti-depressants take 4 weeks (or more!) to achieve the desired affect, and things GET WORSE before they get better when taking these A/Ds.  It is up to you and your doctor if you want to or need to stop the medication, but you may be stopping it before it even starts working.

It can be very difficult to find a medication that works. Prozac worked very well for you in the past so you may want to take that into consideration.  Maybe see if your dr. can prescribe you a few lorazepam or alprozelam to be taken AS NEEDED for any extra anxiety as you adjust to the Prozac.
