This all sounds very very scary, Gemma - by now, I hope you have resolved that issue.  I suffer from ocd (not saying you do, I have no idea...) and it manifests itself in often intense anxiety over body issues such as you raised about the clots.  I have had those concerns, too, and can't pass on what your symptoms mean.  I am lucky to have a very understanding primary care doc who tells me that he listens to me because although he's pretty sure it may be anxiety, there may be a time when it's important to take a look.  But more often than not, his response (often via email!) is to 'take another Valium.'  hahahah.  In short, he often advises that I should try and treat the anxiety as that is most likely what it is - he is most often right. He finally got me to see a psychiatrist, who put me on meds, and I'm not as bad about that stuff as I was before.  In any event, it is what it is, don't be ashamed of it.  Just deal with it as it arises.  If it's anxiety, so be it.  Good luck - be well.  Anna

Hey There..I don't know about the chest/arm/anxiety pain. But, I'm 36 and have had 2 blood clots before. So I can tell you about both kinds of those. My 1st was at age 22. 130 pounds, so can't blame being overweight, etc..Anyway, that one was a DVT..the bad kind. My arm THROBBED, so I thought I had pulled a muscle doing some exercise the night before. Then I noticed it just seemed like something MORE than that. So, I was trying on a shirt..and noticed that all my veins were showing..like a wrestler!! When I got to the ER, the measured..and that arm was bigger than the other. And they also had 2 totally different Blood Pressure's. Surgery, ICU, etc...

My 2nd Blood Clot was at Christmas this year at age 36. And definately overweight now...but still very active chasing 2 kids around constantly. Anyway..this one showed up while driving to my sister's house for Christmas. We'd already stopped a few times..so it wasn't like I'd been driving for hours on end. My Calf just started THROBBING, so I had a bad feeling right from the start. And it hurt intensely to touch. Even my jeans felt sensitive rubbing against the skin.  I chickened out on going to the ER that night, hoping that I could blame it on some sort of bad Bruise while I was packing the car. Not that I remembered bruising anything..but I was hoping for the best.  So the next day I kept an eye on it, and it had developed a Hot Pink Streak on a couple inches of my upper calf. So, Yes..I made the trip that night to the ER. This one was/is a "superficial" clot. And before it got better...it got worse. It went from about a 2 inch red streak, to a 4 inch red streak on my leg. And  you could NOT put any pressure on it.

Anyway..Hope this helps with anyone who wants to know the basic  the "SYMPTOMS" of both kinds of blood clots!!

As far as the anxiety goes...well, after having had the 1st bad blood clot..any time I feel the tiniest TWINGE of a THROBBING pain...I immediately FREAK OUT!!!

This could be musculoskeletal pain like chostochondritis, or nerve compression in your spinal column.  Who knows, anxiety has a way of creating new and false symptoms trust me I experience this stuff almost weekly.  It is definitely hard to distinguish between real physical problems and what is caused by the bodies reaction to stress and anxiety.

Hey Gemma,
Happy New Year.
I am glad you had all those tests done.
My take is that your stress and anxiety-unjustified perhaps but real nonetheless- are contributing to your physical symptoms or even causing
some of them.
I suffered from severe "psychosomatic" excruciating at times pains
when I was around 10. They were caused be fears and anxieties, having
being left in charge of my family with an ill mother and baby brother
at home, as my dad was taken away by the military. It was during tough times and I was put in a situation where I just had to do whatever had to be done for our survival
Printed Breathing techniques-Spirit  in his recent post is spot on with this-  were given to me along with some other holistic suggestions and no meds, as the neuro-psyche doc thought I was too young for that.
Whatever I was told to do,I followed it to the T!
I was so scared of  DYING from the intense chest pains, I tried not to fall
asleep every night-as if I could will this on my own and not die!
Anyway,it was not the plan. As I was getting older many things happen to me that challenged and tested my core beliefs. I felt  the great need to connect with my spirit in a much deeper sense.
What an experience it has been for me. It literally transformed my entire being! No longer fearing death, no more apprehension regarding any aspect of life. There was this knowing, that everything was going to be fine.
Part of the deal was that I give back. It's from the understanding that we all have a higher purpose in life. Not like an obligation. More like a natural process, being aware of  the connection with every form of energy.
If you go to the natural breathing website-as suggested in a previous post-
it will truly make a difference  should you consider to practice it as suggested- I can vouch for it.
Meditation is something that I do daily, this is something you may want to consider, as it can have an extremely positive impact in your life.
If unable to get into it,just get a meditation CD of your choice.
Wishing you well.
Blessings
Niko

hi. pl;z try and relax(easy said right )  it only makes it worse by being so tense, it will make muscles hurt worse from the stress. if it was a blood clot you would of already had worse problems, to feel better go see your dr and have them do x-ray. and no you cannot tell if its a blood clot with blood work. but i feel 100 percent that its just pain and not a blood clot. i have know to many that has had them and they dont know they do until they end up in hospital with bad problems, as for you its the same and nothing h as happen, so i say your stressing over it making it worse and its nothing.

if you read all on net it makes worse to, it makes your mind think you have that than you start to panice so try not to read all of that.

hope you wake up and feel better today. Barbara

hey girl sorry your having anxiety but i would say yes it is just anxiety/stress.   first if it was a blood clot yes it would of showed up on x-ray , so with the pains it stress you and makes the pain worse,  and another sure way to know its not a blood clot is the blood clot would be to deep that when you press on  it and it hurts tells you its a muscle or something simple blood clots do not hurt when pressed on.

i hope you feel better today.

Thanku so much for ur reply, I think what's scaring me the most is that all the pain I experiance is on my right side and never on the left, and the fact that my forearm hurts to press scares me would they have picked up on this with the blood tests
