electric shock feeling

recently i have been feeling really weak, especially in my lega and midsection, but pretty much all over genersally, weak joints, difficulty breathing, constantly fatigued and tired. i also feel like my body is constantly moving around and swaying even when im standing still, a sort of swaying from the foot to the hip. its like when i walk i get a little bolt or something in my foot and my balance goes weird, i never actually lose balance trip or fall over though. the worst part is whenever i try to sleep, my head just goes completely weird like i cant explain, and i get a sharp jolt through my whole body, feels like it starts on my legs and leaves my head. it only happens when i close my eyes and try to sleep, and this electric shock feeling or jolt lasts about a split second. when i open my eyes i seem alright, just dizzy for a few seconds, my legs feel burning and pins and needles after. my doctor has said i have severe anxiety and have had numerous tests. could all this just be from bad anxiet? im finding it absolutely impossible to believe..,,,

I have been wondering the same thing. My arms and legs feel so I weak at times; sometimes when i lay down to go to sleep my legs shake uncontrolable; my husband thinks I am crazy but I am worried something else could be wrong such as MS or something of that sort. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I feel when I go to the dr and they see I have panic attacks they want to blame everything on that so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know

I have this shock-like or electricity feeling mostly through my all body. Not severe but very bad feeling. Probably anxiety.

Very interesting!  For over a year now, I have been telling my drs. that I feel as though my head is shaking, vibrating, buzzing as I start to fall off to sleep.  Along with that, I have bouts of adrenaline rushes from my stomach (like dropping off a roller coaster hill)  That might be a thrill for a couple seconds but very disturbing long term.  All tests (blood, MRI of the brain and clinical exams) are fine.  I do have low blood pressure from time to time and a bit of a fast heart rate.  If you find any answers, I would love to know because my doc just prescribes Zoloft (which I never take) and says get rid of what's making you depressed.  What's making me depressed are the outrageous dr. bills and the anxiety about what horrible thing could be wrong with me.  Of course, ALS and brain tumors are the first things that come to mind.  Best wishes with your symptoms and diagnosis..

This can absolutely be from anxiety. All of the effects you feel are effects of adrenaline on your sympathetic nervous system, which is actually normal in many circumstances; however, your body, your nerves are so sensitized that they seem to be effected all the time. Although I am pretty much over my panic attacks now, I still get the swaying feeling a bit, which now (because I know what it is from) is really just more of an annoyance.

As strange as it sounds, not one of your symptoms is outside of the range of anxiety disorder. If your tests have come back normal, then it is a safe bet that there is nothing else medically wrong, which is the first thing to rule out when you are feeling this way.

How long has this been happening and what treatment methods are you currently using? I would be surprised if you are not on a benzo of some sort (xanax, valium, atavan, klonopin) - as these really help the symptoms you are having. (Although, it will probably not significantly decrease the tiredness because that is a side effect, as well as possible dizziness) However, one thing that I have learned is that is does lower these effects to a degree because it relieves the nervous tension, which makes the symptoms far worse.

Anxiety is a powerful force. When my anxiety is full blown it devastates my body with heart palpitations, headaches, chills, and dizziness at times. The more I concentrate on what could be wrong with me the worse the symptoms get. It is like staying on a merry-go -round and never getting off. The only way I can control my pain is to recognize it is anxiety and I will be ok. Then distract my thoughts with other things music, and other healthy activities.

If you feel your Dr. is misdiagnosing you I suggest you get a second opinion.

Hang in there! My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sincerely,
Marie
