Depakote Dosage?

My p doc put me on Depakote for rapid mood changes, no mania. I was on 250 for 2 months then 375 for 2 weeks, 500 for 2 weeks, 750 for a week and finaly 1000 I am on for 4 days. I feel more stable, but feel depressed when my mood shifts. How long it takes to fully benefit from Depakote?

Depakote 1500mg was no good for me -- at first it seemed to help but then after a few weeks I gained 25 lbs, lost some of my hair, and had recurrence of rapid cycling with major depressive episodes.  Doc took me off that and now I'm on Lamictal, still trying to get the right dosage of that, doc wants me to gradually increase to 200mg/day but I feel better on just 100mg and am going to discuss with him.

I took depakotre for a while but I hated it I felt "zombied out" all the time and I cannot afford to be that way in my job. there are much better meds than depakote
It ussually takes 4-6 weeks for the medss to get their full effect. give it some time but do report to your doc about the depression side.
