Does anyone have a problem with telling the truth sometimes?

There have been times where I just couldn't tell the truth. This was usually a direct result of epidodes that went badly. I just felt that it was impossible for me to do those things, that I'm not that kind of person.
It wasn't me.

So I refused to admit those things to anyone.
I don't approve of lying, neither do I approve of my behaviour sometimes. Catch 22.
Anyone else had the same experiences?

I used to lie cot compulsively, even when the truth would have been easier. I don't know why. It was the way I was. When I finally decided to stop lying, as it was really obvious. I felt an enourmous amount of freedom, especially when people accepted me the way I am. I think that was at the root of it, I didn't think I was good enough and I thought a lie would keep people at arms length so they couldn't know the real and evil me. I don't know if you feel this way and I hope I haven't insulted you but yes, lots of bipollar, lets say,. exaggerate the truth, sometimes due to mania....My love to you in your battle. It is an amazing sense of freedom and it is worth fighting forl.

Everyone does, but the general idea is to keep these episodes at a minimum. There is no law that states you have to demonstrate to everyone you have bad judgement.

There is an alternative. Simply don't talk about those situations.

Certainly a falsehood involving monetary gain or personal gain is ethically unaceptable.

So you did something foolish.

What's going to happen.

Are you going to be rurned into a frog?

On the other hand telling your girlfriend she has a wonderful new six-inch tattoo on her shoulder (I wanted to surprise you!)  when you want to kill the tattoo artist and knock her unconscious is probably an "acceptable fib".

On terms of "workaday" I don't see any problem in simplifying things. For example I often had to have work-related meetings with members of the opposite sex after work. There was absolutely nothing unethical or sexual about these meetings, but I knew they would upset my girl so I fibbed.

On the other hand, if your expenses on a trip were one hundred and twenty two dollars and fifty cents, that means you do not ever submit a voucher for reimbursement for a cent above that amount.

It also means that your word should be your bond.

Then there are the "lies that can save a human life". They come up from time to time.

For example, years ago I brought an injured child in to an ER who was a stranger. They would not provide treatment unless a relative signed a release. So I lied and said I was a relative to get the kid to the top of the line.

A lie to save a human life is justifiable.

i think it depends on what the lie is, like telling a minor white lie once in a while doesn't hurt anyone,  i dont think it impacts peoples lives that much.
