Dry throat at night

Does anyone experience this? My sinuses are also very dry and inflammed, as I have chronic pan sinusitis. There must be a connection to chiari. My symptoms have flared this week like never before!

I forgot to add that the neil med saline sinus mist helped me, NOT the neti pot or neil med sinus rinse, just the spray mist.  When doctors thought it was only a sinus issue they had me do the full nasal rinse and each time I did the added pressure of the water going through my sinuses would make me feel dizzy and heavy headed.  The doctor never understood why this would happen.  But the spray helps things from getting dry and stuffed up.

Yes, sinus issues can be related as they are right in the middle of the area that can get compressed...so this can affect  them.....

Just as some have compression of the pituitary gland......

When you have compression that puts pressure on all surrounding areas, it can cause just about anything to not work the way it should.

For years  I was very dry....nasal passages etc.....now I have far too much histamines in my system....feels like a river flowing down my nose some days,,,,feast or famine....Murphey's Law I guess, But with Chiari the symptoms can be ever changing and can start and stop at the moment we feel we know what is going on.....and then it is something new that is affecting us.....Keep a journal so you can see how your symptoms cycle.

I've known for years that I had chronic right sphenoid sinusitis and then I developed an acute infection on top of that and my chiari symptoms really got bad.  Even when the infection was taken care of my chiari symptoms continued to rear their ugly head.  It's interesting too that my chiari is worse on the right and my symptoms are right sided on my face and my right ear and it's only the right sphenoid sinus that had sinusitis not the left.

I'm in the same boat. Most always have dey sinuses. Interestingly though, on one of my mri's it was noted that I had a mucus retention cyst in the spenoid sinus. Whatever that means! Lol

yes I really do think the sinus issues are connected! Last night I had severe head pressure when laying down. My sinuses were extra dry and inflamed. I haven't seen Neuro yet. I have a hard time dealing with new symptoms because I don't know how serious each one is. Do I run to emerge when my head feels like it's going to explode? How do all of you handle scary symptoms?

Before my sinus surgery, laying down always caused me to have strange head pressure, especially behind the ears near the back of my neck, and lots of dizziness.  Bending over also caused me intense pain and dizziness.  I still get that when my symptoms are bad but having had the balloon sinuplasty to drain the sphenoid sinus did help my symptoms a bit.  The procedure itself under anesthesia did make my chiari symptoms flare due to the position of my neck but once things calmed down again the headaches weren't as bad.  Still there, but not as severe.

Sudafed helped decrease the feeling of pressure and fullness alittle bit before my surgery.

As for handling scary symptoms, I don't have any good advice.  I panicked sometimes and freaked out and was scared permanent damage was occurring and I got mad at myself that I wasn't doing anything to help myself because doctors weren't helping me.  So I learned to avoid doing things that triggered my symptoms, like laying flat and bending over and exerting myself.  No more exercise, only light housework with breaks, I stopped putting my neck in extension or flexion for any length of time.  As for the balance issues, like feeling the floor move, I just kinda got used to it and stopped immediately having a panic reaction when it happened.  I always thought if I kept moving it would get real bad like inner ear vertigo (I've had the vertigo due to crystals in the ear being dislodged) but it never did get that bad.  I guess over time I adapted and learned not to panic over it all.  Things got better slowly over a period of months for me as long as I didn't do too much.  Before scheduling surgery, I tested myself and became more active and within 2-3 days I started to feel miserable again, hence the surgery.

Thank you everyone! This really was a tough week! Thanks for your responses and info. It is so nice to have a place to share and get feedback from!! What would we do without each other? I'm hoping I can get these sinuses and low blood pressure under control. I'm not convinced that the head pressure I felt when laying down was  my sinuses though, as it was preceded by neck pain. :(
