new dr!

just thought i'd post a little update since it's been a little quiet....
i'm still fighting this blasted bug.  so i went back to see my local gp.  she put me on a round of steroids for 5 days.  didn't do much.  i wanted to go to my folks house to check up on my son and see for myself how he was doing and by the time i got there last tues., was feeling even worse, so i went to see my dads dr.  i loved him!  he put me on another antibiotic for 5 days and i go back to see him on the 10th.  but while i was there, i did take the opportunity to talk with him about my concerns with my thyroid...before i could even fininsh my reasons why i was concerned, he says..."well that's certainly not a problem!  we'll just test you for everything"!  wow!!!  i didn't even have to beg or anything!!!  not only that, when i told him about the thyroglossal duct cyst dx i got a few months back, he asked what was done about it.  when i told him nothing he said ok....let's do an ultra sound and make sure everything is ok.  what???  really???  wow!!!  so....he ordered full blood panels.  testing me for everything...all possible thyroid problems, too.  he also knew a pm dr that does the botox injections for pain management and i have an appt. to see him at 8am on the 9th, the same day i see the surgeon.  wow.  lots going on.  it's been a busy few weeks.  has not been very much fun as i've been really sick and in a lot of pain, but things have been very productive the latter part of last week and are looking up!  i go back to this wonderful dr on the 10th and will let you know what i find out.  until then....be well, all.

thanks angela!  speaking for both of us, we'll take all the prayers we can get!  doc said the pnuemonia is gone, so that's a good thing!  just waiting for the tail end of the bronchitis to clear out...
pretty stoked about the new doc!  and feeling good about finally having all the proper tests done.  even if they all come back clean and my feelings about my thyroid being wonky are wrong, that will be good to know!  and so very glad to have found a dr that does the botox injections!  just hope he agrees with my nl and feels that i will benefit from them and doesn't try to push off the steroid injections on me.  we shall see in 2 days!

Well lizzy I am glad to hear u found a good doc and good luck with everything. Hope things continue to look up for u. And feel better soon. Dang fall colds can be pure havoc with chiari. And worse than other illness at times.

And Selma so sorry to hear u are suffering so.  I will add an extra prayer for u and I hope u feel better soon.  Added pain is not what u need.

I will keep both of u in my prayers

didn't like it at all before surgery, but seems to be helping a lot now.  i take 2  per day and if i need it, 3 a day.  really helps to take the edge off.  hope it helps you too!  i've had no side effects so far from it at all.  i don't remember how it works, only that it does.  my dr told me, i just don't remember.

Thanks Lizzy..on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 50...ugh....it is starting up again tonight and I took some meds right away which I think r beginning to work.....so I will be going to bed.....

as for my cell, it is still not working right, and I turn it off so I don't have to charge is so often and then forget to turn it on...and last weekend till Monday I spent all day in bed...so I never got my phone.......I will be starting topamax tomorrow....do u have ne side effects?How does it work?...I pray it helps my back as well as the pressure I get when it flares up...not sure if it is the TC or EDS.

figured something was up on your end...called a few times with no luck and that's a bit unusual.  sorry it's been rough for you, but feelin your pain, my friend!  i've not been taking anything for mine except the topamax.  wanted to keep a clear head plus didn't want to have it around when i was visiting...so it was a grin and bear it week.  will let you know what he says...i just hope this dr agrees to do it!  don't know that he will do it that day or not, as it will be the first visit, but one can hope.

Fantastic Lizzy...I am happy u found someone so caring and thorough.

Please keep us posted on the botox and how it helps pain...my dang back went out again or is in spasm...still not sure what is going on...but the pain is building again.

I took a valium and I hope it helps with out the need of the dilaudid this time....

If the botox works, I may ask about it for my back...very ouchy : (
