Herniated cervical disc(s) blocking my CSF

I got a call back from Dr. Greenfields office.  The reviewed my MRI's, operative reports and everything and they don't think that these headaches are being caused by chiari after all.  He thinks that I have a herniated disc (or 2) in my neck that is compressing the cord and also blocking the csf flow, kind of like the chiari did, and causing a similar headache.  I don't really have any other symptoms of a herniated cervical disc, just the frequent headache.  I was so shocked by what they told me, it will be so nice to have something "normal" for a change to be treated!  LOL.  I had no idea that  a herniated disc could block csf, dos anyone here have any experiences with that?

Hi...YES !! I was also told that but b4 my surgery by one of the Drs I saw....I had surgery and am doing better...and never had the disk issues taken care of....I was told bcuz of the disks I should not drive as it could cause a CSF obstruction and  possibly the drop attacks would occur again....

I do not have the type of headaches you are having tho...from time to time when I laugh...etc...but not as frequent as you mentioned.

Hi, I know what you mean about having a "normal" problem. I might be in the same boat. None of my mri's show problems with my chiari herniation. I do get headaches, about once a month and especially if I sleep the wrong way. I know I have neck arthritis and some buldging discs. My headaches often start in my neck and move up into my head. I can often have neck stiffness with the headache. Sometimes the headaches are pressure like. I would swear that this is chiari but I don't know what the neck symptoms are supposed to feel like. Can you describe your symptoms? Great that you have answers, it's cruel not getting anywhere with this chiari ********!!!

Almost every morning I have a headache.  It makes me want to rip the back of my skull off the pressure is so intense.   It is worse when I look up and down.  A hot shower seems to help some.   The pain feels so similar to the headaches before my decompression.  I still get the headache with any bending over, coughing, and laughing.  Also I see stars when I sneeze.  I'm not sure if any of that can be attributed to this new finding, but since Greenfields office seems to think my csf is blocked in my neck it does make think it's a possibility.
