No worries...do keep us posted on how this all progresses for u.
Good Luck : )
Thanks for your input I'm researching it now. I went to my neurologist & he said oh its anxiety take meds & go to counseling...lol I am looking for a back specialist too for my scoliosis bc he said he can't do anything for that. I am going to have to travel out of state & will have to pay out of pocket but it will be worth it. Thanks for everything!!
U need a true chiari specialist to help offer guidance....do use the list of drs compiled of the members drs...it is not a referral, and not all drs on the list may be true chiari specialists but they have successfully treated it for one of our members.
Use the list to research...make appointments to visit a few and compare them to see which is best for u.
Thx.. I did get a written report to take to neurologist & will be picking up disk as well.
My report says I have a 6mm downward cerebellar tonsillar ectopia. I do have a reversal of the normal cervical disk as well as dextroconvex scoliosis.
C2-3 normal
C3-4 slight spurring no significant disk bulge or mass effect
C4-5 minimal bulge and spurring with no significant mass effect
C5-6 slight bulge and spurring w/o significant mass effect
Didnt scan lower.
C6-7 normal
No midline abnormality, no hydroceohalus, no acute ischemia.
Slight mucosal thickening in sinuses without evidence of an air fluid level. The mastoid air cells are clear. The orbital structures are unremarkable.
I'm so lost I was told they could do nothing for me except give me something for headaches. I don't really understand all this any help would be appreciated.
Jenny is right...when u go in for a MRI or ne test for that matter u can request copies of the report to be sent to u as they take longer, but u can wait a few minutes after u r done and take copies of the MRI on a disk with u...all u have to do is ask...so call the facility and ask for a copy...the Dr does not have to give their copy...but u do have a right to a copy...so request one.
It's your test. You have every right to a copy. Call the imaging center & request your scans on disc if they can or at least a copy of the report.
I go back Monday & my neurologist told me to get my MRI scans from her for our visit next Friday. So if she hands them over I will definetely post them. But I don't think she will she has a real attitude & doesn't like me much my hubby & her have got into it he isn't even allowed back in the room with me... Lol
I hate the way we are often treated...i hate people keeping telling me it is psychological...as time and medicine is advancing, but it cannot be put all in the same pot.of course i do panic when all of a sudden my heart beats out my chest,my breathing gets stuck and i have electric shock feel all over my body along with dizzines...hang in there...u r not alone.
omg don't you love that attitude, "nothing's wrong, you're just like everybody else, get over yourself." Don't worry about that, awareness is spreading :)
That is a really long MRI btw. I would guess that what you were experiencing was because of the position your neck/head was in during the scan. I remember when they did my flexion positioned MRI it was a real struggle. It was because my odontoid was pressing on my medulla or something. Do you have any MRI pics you could upload?
Thx for your response it has now been 2 weeks since my MRI & my doctor keeps avoiding telling me anything regarding my MRI that she ordered & BTW she loves to tell me I'm wrong & nothing is wrong with me as she puts its all bc of anxiety & depression. Lol She just keeps saying you need to see your neurologist but they can't get me in till March 9th. Kinda just over it all just want answers to why I'm having stroke like episodes...
I hope you get your results soon. It is flustrating when you have to wait. No news is good news. Let us know when you hear someting. Best of luck.
Hi...I know u r concerned....and it is not common for things to change mid MRI, but it can happen, in fact it happened to me...when I was in they stopped midway and asked if I could lay there until they reached my Dr...???they left me inside and I had to remain still and it was over 20 mins this after they did a good 40 mins of MRI slides...I was scheduled to have contrast, and when they brought me out, that is what I thought they would do, but at this point they told me I had to come back the next day for an additional MRI....they had other appointments and they needed to get them in,...so I had to return...trust me, my mind went wild...this was when they found my Chiari...
To this day I have no idea y the tech did not just do the MRI like RX'd and then call the Dr and schedule another one....but, it could be they just do not know how to deal with chiari and they over react....
or in some cases under react....
As for ur cold and numbness feeling while lying inside could be from the position u r put in for the MRI, I know it always affected my legs...and they are very cold...I always request the warm blankets.
