If Anyone has ever said they feel great

I am not on here for long, as I am soooooo sick and in a major ton amount of pain! I just wanted to say if anyone has ever said they feel great a week after surgery, what were they on? Really? I am in sooooo much pain and very sick. It went well, but he said I was one of his more complicated surgeries.  I was a hard one.  I will explain later, but for now I just wanted to check in. I came home much earlier than they preferred.

I posted on here right after u posted this thread...MH went off line for updates and my post never stuck...so, I am going to attempt this again.

I am so glad to hear from u, but sorry to hear u r having issues.

Just take it slow and not all of us feel great post op...I think it is the meds in the system, and how the individual body handles the meds.....

   Sending healing MoJo...for a smooth recovery <3

Thanks, back on for a minute...its all I can stand right now. My brain was extremely compressed in & on the spinal cord. blood vessels were flattened by the pressure and when the surgeon made more room around brain they all filled back up. There was so much more. He said I was one of the more complicated ones he has had. I had a lot going on. I have some pain that will not go away but because of the extreme narrowing of I guess my spine...I was outta it. Anyway, I know some symptoms will be better. I know some headaches will be gone and others will stay, it is just the way it will be and I understand and will deal with that. If I have to have another surgery, I will and I will with Dr. R as I trust him whole heartedly.  The best hospital I have ever been to in my life.  I can't think right now, but will get on later if I can. :) Thanks everyone for your thoughts.  Lots of pain in many ways and nausea right now.

My NS gave me nausea stickers for behind my ear that lasted 3 days and PCP gave me more hen I asked they were great!  Have someone get you ice packs that are made of gel from drug store.  They don't get hard and really helped.  We had to find a position that took 4 pillows and a rolled towel that made me "comfortable" in my recliner.  My muscle relaxers were really helpful and with the drugs I slept a lot.  I am 40 days post op it gets better.

I'm a week postop, getting my staples out today.  I had a decompression, duraplasty with a  lamina surgery.  I felt really good yesterday and tried to do too much.  Today, I'm really tired but the pain has lessened a great deal.  I take Advil 600mg 4x per day, it seems to help me more than Vicodin.  The nausea passed this weekend and I got my appetite back.  Everyone is different and it appears you had a more complicated surgery than I.  Make sure you get plenty of rest.  Dr. Heffez says that for every 2 hours that I'm sitting or moving I should lay flat for 30minutes until the CSF fluid stabalizes and the spinal headaches resolve.  Make sure you drink plenty of fluids and if you don't have an appetite, buy some Ensure.  You need all the vitamins, minerals and calories for healing.  Take care

I am almost a month post-op and I feel really good. A week out was pretty rough though. I had some pretty tough days. As time goes by I have been more and more sure it was the right thing to do. Keep focusing on healing, and don't worry, you will get there. There are brighter days ahead.

Hey i am happy to hear u are through surgery.i know how u feel and was wondering the same!!! Dont compare ur case to others and dont get scarred of how u feel.really each body responds differently to this mayor suegery.i started to regret my surgery in the first 3months and thought i will end up worse. The difference is also that there are so many ways how to perform the surgery...having included duraplasty and laminectomy is a much bigger thing. Relax, take it easy...the first months can be for a lot of us really hard.good luck
