Syrinx size

I just got a copy of my MRI reports from 4 years ago so I can compare them to my new MRI when i go see my NL in a week.
It is the first time I have seen the full report.

It says I have a syrinx from just above the inferior tip of the conus stenosis (S1) to the top of T5(right between my shoulder blades.  And that it is 2mm at its largest point.  It this typical?
Thanks :)

Thanks Selma, I saw your note on my pics.  The pic you commented on it just of my lumbar spine, that's why the syrinx only goes to T12, the other pic is of my upper spine shows it goes to T5.  It was done in 2007, so yes, I am overdue for a comparison!!  Which I will be getting on Monday at my next appointment :)  I had the MRI a few months ago now and am only now getting my appointment!  Long overdue and long awaited!!  I am very excited to Monday, since my symptoms have worsened 10 fold since then!
Thanks again :)

Thanks for taking the time to look and send me a message.
However, I can't find the message.  Do you recall where you left it?
Thanks again :)

STL5- yes, u can have a syrinx in any part of the spine, cervical, thoracic and lumbar and we always suggest memebrs ask to have their entire spine checked....thanks for adding that : )

I am not Selma but I do know that you can have a syrinx in an area other than the cervical spine area.

Hi Selma,
I hope you can give me some insight.  I've just returned from seeing a NS at Columbia Med Ctr.  Two things he said jumped out at me.  First, he told me if I wait long enough my brain will "shrink" (due to the aging process) and I will no longer have headaches (I just have to "wait" for 15 -20 years)....Secondly, he told me that I have no Syrinx in the cervical spine area; therefore, there can't be a syrinx anywhere else along my spine.  I know the first comment is BS, what about the second?  My gut tells me I should RUN as fast as I can from this guy.  Your thoughts?

I have scanned copies of my two reports and posted them to my profile.  Please take a look and tell me what you think, if you have time.
Thank you :)
