Yesterday's episode was the first time I have ever watched House and it will also be the last. I knew that it would be spruced up for TV, but give me a break....all I can say is if that's how minor the decompression surgery is, I can't wait for mine! LOL Seriously, I was frustrated that the focus was on sexual orientation and not Chiari and it's realistic symptoms/diagnosis/treatment. Did anybody else cringe when House kept on pulling on that guy's neck?!

I was so upset by that episode too!  Especially the vagueness of the condition, lack of real symptoms (extreme pain) and the ability to sit up, no hair shaved, and "have a conversation" after a brain decompression or chiari  surgery in general. Such a crock!  I have had 29 surgeries so far for chiari and syringomyelia from a woman hitting me head on in a MVA in 1995. Wouldn't we all love for our surgeries to be as "simple" as it was portrayed last night?

I think we should all band together and write the show to bring attention to the fact that they hardly covered the Chairi at all...it was more about this man's relationship choices. It was such a poor display of bringing awareness to this condition as I'm sure that was the girl's intention from the get go.

Soooo disappointing...

I was very disappointed with the show..I guess that is Hollywood for ya. On the positive side, it may get the name out like some have said, but many people may not even remember since it was only mentioned once at the end. Also, the symptoms and how quickly he was diagnosed were incredibly unrealistic. This definetely did not portray the true every day suffering of those with CM :(

I personally am very dissapointed with this particular episode. They gave a very un-realistic portrayal of Chiari and I personally am thinking of writing the show asking what the heck they were thinking? I can't imagine that the person with chiari that flew to LA would have not been detailed considering I saw her post. I think it was the writier and producers who put their own twist on it not thinking about the people this would affect and embarass.
