easy now girls!  lol!  i did have just a regular old mri ...full spine and it was noted exactly as i stated above.  "there is a syrinx noted in the thoracic cord".  i think the reason i missed it, is because it was on the report from the nl i saw in dr. heffezs office just before i saw him.  the way it works is, you see dr h's nl, then the nl tells dr h what he thinks, then dr h meets with you.  so i guess i just never really paid much attention to that report.  but i know i read it at least once in the past!  just cannot imagine that i missed that!!    but i have no mid back pain now and come to think of it, have not had a bit of thorasic pain since my surgery!!  prior to surgery had tons, but blamed it on the fractures from the plane crash.  the fractures that all my local drs said were healed and not causing me any pain?  you know?  those ones?  lol!  yeah...go figure!!! still, all i can say is wow.  i just don't remember dr h saying anything at all about a syrinx...maybe it wasn't very big or he didn't consider it to be much of an issue. or maybe i just simply don't remember!  wouldn't be the first time that's happened...but i gotta wonder...

A MRI of the cervical cord is done to lok for a syrinx as most drs feel that is the likely place to find them, however, they can be also found in the thoracic and lumbar area of the spinal cord.

We always suggest u get a full spine MRI to rule out a syrinx.

How did they word it in the report?? Maybe I should re-read mine too..lol..

I would bring it up to your DR and find out why you were never told....it could still be causing a lot of your problems!

WOW Lizzy...wow....I am aghast too!!! I know how u comb thru ur reports too.....

But it also helps to show, if ur dr only looks for a syrinx in ur cervical spine, push for a full spine MRI as they can be found elsewhere too!!

Could it have been the wording , the way it was phrased? that u missed it????
