from bad to worse what symptoms are the serious one to watch for?

So I have been diagnosed with chiari malformation but currently have no insurance and have not seen a doctor in 2+ years Ive been  learning what I can from sites like this and U tube. what I can't find is anywhere that has some sort of reoccurring pattern in symptom progression/time line,  is there anything ducumenting if there is a progressive  pattern as far as a certain order from one symptom to the next and so on until the progress reaches peralasis or some other retractable damage. in other words what symptom s should I be concerned about

Hi....I have to agree with rod as we are all different there is not one list to say if you get this next you are on a dangerous slip....it is just not there...plus, in being on this forum as long as I have I have seen some have a drastic change in a short time frame while others go yrs without a change.

It is not one thing, it is just a change...the worse issue is breathing so any change should be reported to the Drs.

Since you do not have insurance you may want to look into the clinical trials....

As far as the worry of paralysis, that is generally due to having a syrinx that is untreated that is growing and compressing nerves....a MRI of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine can help rule that out, and a CINE MRI to see if you have a CSF obstruction....I do not know if you have had these tests b4 you lost your insurance? But these will help put your mind to rest.....and I would suggest you keep a journal of any and all symptom changes....as you can have symptoms leave and not come back and acquire new ones....so keeping track is a great idea and will help your Drs once you get back to one.

Hi, most doctors who treat CM and are true CM experts will say you should have a minimum of one checkup a year if you are symptom free, this would include a MRI to check for progression and any CSF obstruction.
As we are all different our symptom pattern will be individual to us, most will say the pattern of symptoms usually start with head aches and neck pain along with vertigo & dizziness. Symptoms to watch for are numbness and pins & needles this could indicate nerve damage, nerve damage early in the illness can be reversed if caught on time so any numbness would require a NL visit.
I hope you can get to see a CM doctor soon as that is the only way you will know the just what treatment you will need.
